i've run into a giant dilemma on what to do here..

back in early-mid august, i posted a lot of items for sale on various forums. around mid september, a lot of people from europe, decided to order some items from me. i didn't realize until now how suspicious it was that no one had made any purchases until about the same time within a small time gap of about 2 weeks the max from earliest to latest sale in europe. all of these people who purchased, also seem to know each other based on various observations.

almost 1.5 to 2 months after the sale, ALMOST ALL make claim that they have not received any of the items. however, i have made 3 sales in europe earlier which totalled in over $3200 and they are willing to back me up.

so i was very cooperative and told them i would get in contact with my post office and their post office in order to find out what happened. i was basically told the same thing that things are unlikely to be lost in the mail.. maybe delayed but hardly lost. they also told me if the packages went undelivered, they should be shipped back to me. so i relayed the message to these people and offered them a refund when i get my items back if they no longer want them.

i had not heard anything from them until late-dec to now, claiming they have not received any packages. i also didn't get anything back in the mail so i made more phone calls to my and their post offices and was told that if i didn't get anything back it was delivered unless i received a notice saying it was undeliverable - but i didn't.

so now this group of people are now contacting my college and paypal. paypal says nothing can be done considering they waited almost 4 months to claim it as not received. now my college is involved and they want me to go in to student affairs to discuss what happened. i don't have the tracking numbers anymore because these packages were shipped so long ago. the only thing i have is my friend who can state that he was with me when i sent out a few of these packages.

a detective friend of mine doesn't know much on what to do because he never dealt with this kind of stuff. but he was the one who pointed out the suspicious things like how they all purchased at the same time long after i posted the items, how they all waited so long to report it as not received, and how they all reported at the same time. he told me that the best thing i can do is probably get some written statements from people i've worked with and professors i know.. about the type of student i am inside and outside of professional surroundings.

does anyone have any idea of what i can or should do?

I hope you haven't sent these guys their refunds. Lots of things can happen when you send paintball items to Europe. If you sold markers to these people, either customs destroyed them or the addressee is getting prosecuted. 2nd tax, they got the items but they have to pay a lot, I guess they want some of their money back by saying they didn't receive the items. If you send the items to their home addy, that's what happened, If you send the items to an APO AE addy, it's lost, but it will get here. PM for transactions info & addy, it's possible that I or one my friends knows these guys.

First off, how did you lose the tracking numbers? Did you sent them an e-mail with the tracking number? If so ask them what the tracking number is and you research the number.

What is student court going to make you do? Walk around campus at midnight in your underwear? It's not a school affair, unless I am missing something and none of the school's business.

The people you sent the packages to is really your word against theirs. Your witness, hmmm, I can pay a bum to say anything I want him to say, not saying you are doing that but still. As far as the stuff getting shipped back several months is not out of the norm for a lost package to find their way either to the sender or the receiver.

Oh yeah, if you're really woried about the issue let your fingers do the walking and find a lawyer who specializes in international law. Many lawyers will consult with potential clients for free or a small fee just to see if they have a case. While they will be very vague about exactly how to accomplish a solution, job security for them, they will let you know what route to go and also whether the buyers have a case or not.

If you don't feel like talking to a lawyer, paypal said it was a dead issue so forget it. It's a dead issue. Drink a beer, relax and forget about it.

thanks for the info guys

im not home right now but when i get home ill pm you with the info. i didnt lose the tracking numbers.. i threw them away because i was told by the post office they should get it in about a week or so. when over a month went by and i didnt hear anything, i assumed they got it and were happy so i tossed it out because what purpose would it serve me?

im not dumb, i didnt send them refunds because i didnt get anything back. i have a detective friend who told me its suspicious how they all bought at about the same time and report about the same time. he also said it looks bad on their part for reporting it about 2 months later rather than after a week or two weeks went by after i shipped it.

This is why I only make dealings in the US and occasionally Canada. Well first of all if you had the tracking numbers all you had to do was go to www.usps.com and check the number and make sure it was delivered, if you are paying for tracking you might as well used it, that could have saved you a lot of this hastle. Second if you sent them the tracking numbers via e-mail does your e-mail servor have a "sent" folder? Granted it might be too long to access that e-mail by now but it is worth a try. Paypal wont do anything except maybe put a caution on your name or something just to let people know that you had a supposedly bad deal or something. Your school can't do §§§§ unless it was there stuff.... Third if these guys really wanted to get their money back like they didn't recieve the stuff at all you would have heard from a lawyer by now...What I think is they are trying to con you and trying to get you to give them sympathy money or something. I think it would be more realistic if say all but one person go the stuff...but since they all seemed to have not gotten their stuff you know it is crap. I would not sweat it, they are just giving you §§§§ and trying to get money off of you. With this being an international incident the cost of them trying to press charges against you would be extremley expensive, and it would take a long time since it is not a serious thing, so I think it will die down and you will be ok. Its a §§§§ty situation and I hope for the best for you. All I can say is just be careful with who you deal with, and you might want to consider not doing international deals, thats what I have done and have no problems. As for the post office loosing stuff, yeah they do loose stuff on occasion, not very often and when they do it usually turns up eventually. I had them loose a package about 2 years ago and I never got it nor did my cousin...so it is gone...but it is highly unlikley that the post office lost multiple packages at one time....

the only reason i threw out the tracking numbers was because they were delivered and so much time went by, i thought i didnt need it so i threw them away

they're just trying to scam me

Hey you don't have to justify with us. You know what you did right or wrong and you have to live with it.
