View Full Version : "tech" spoiled my A4!

..it's obviously the only one here in spain, so I sent my A4 there to get a slayer trigger instaled & LPR checked!!
Trigger came back fine, but the mini reg. is showing dark green/slightly red already!!! :notsure:
And the dwell is set at 17 with the largest volumizer on!!
Evil Scion tank output 430! LPR can't tell without tool kit!!
This looked VERY strange to me, so I called him straight away: "No worries, he said, all good! Like this it's LPR 55 and gonna suck less air out of your Evil Scion 45cu!!"
Is this true??

I still had to try it out & first it seemed to be ok somehow,
but then I had really bad DROP OFF'S after every 5th shot!!
The balls didn't even reach the fifty anymore and then on the chrono it was an up & down of +/- 60/70!!
What did he do to my A4?? :wowzer: :stooges: :wowzer:

And what can I do now to fix it, cos for sure I'm not gonna send it there again!!
But I haven't got a tool kit yet.. :get:

Help please!!
Thx

First thing to do is try to get the settings back the way they were before you sent it out. What I would do is...

- set the dwell between 10 and 12
- set the LPR at about 60...of course you'll need a tool kit to do this though
- and after setting those 2 first, set the velocity (minireg) at about 285 FPS

The reason being is because a high dwell leaves more room for inconsistancy at the chrono. And if your settings worked before, then I would go back to those settings

..only problem is, that I haven't got a tool kit to check the LPR..!!? Maybe I'll just start with lowering the dwell to 11..
Is there an average number of shims in each A4??
I read about "all individual" but there should be an average somehow, more or less, no!?? :again:

Thx

While im sure there is a generally trend # of shims for each type of Angel, there is really no way to tell without the kit. Depending on the shims themselves and the Angel, you may have 4 shims in and be running 40psi, and in the next A4 you may have 4 shims in and be running 55psi.

maybe you can call and ask to see if he remembers what he set the LPR to, and add or subtract shims accordingly. Each shim equals ABOUT 5psi.

..like vI said above, he said it's at 55 now..
So I'll give it a nightshift soon..
Thx

I have just about the same settings, except for that mini-reg thing and my gun works fine, very little kick and I get about 1600 shots from my 68/4500 tank.
Lpr 55
Dwell 16
Largest volumizer
Mini-reg 230 (295 fps)
Pre-set LP tank (output 450 psi)

The only problems I have are sensi related.
Weird......

..that's exactly what I'm looking for:
Maximum air efficiency with minimum kick!! :dinner:
So how now? Dwell 11 or 16??
This is a real sience guys.. :headoff:

Was your gun broken in when u sent it?

No, lpr should be around 55-60 and the dwell should be as low as possible without getting drop off at high rates of fire, or making you raise the lpr to high. FACT: A lower dwell will enable the gun to cycle faster, smoother, and with less kick. ALL while increasing efficiency. Anyone who knows Angels will tell you that.

I had my dwell set low but i was not getting any long range distance??? I uped my dwell and range is great buy efficiency is crap. What gives???

Make sure your dwell is no lower then 9 no higher then 12. My personal gun wont operate well at a dwell any lower then 10, so I have it set at 10. And make sure the LPR is between 60-65.

This doesnt make sence. how can lpr's vary so differently? Like mine has one shim. the pressure?? i dont know, but runs great, As long as the plug is screwed in flush every gun should operate pretty much the same off lpr with sam# of shim's. i'd like to know that mine is set at but $50 for a guage..lol

and besides that when you set LPR pressure , when you go and put plug in it the pressure wont be the same cause the plug will be screwed in at diffferent depth. unless you have a gauge to read pressure with plug in the whole concept is retarded.

No, it doesnt matter how far the plug is screwd into the lpr chamber at all. It wouldn't even matter if you had a volumizer over the lpr either.

doesnt the plug keep the valve in? if plug was screwed i farther the the valve wouldnt go back as far.

High dwell and LOW lpr is what works best in colder weather and is easier on the paint.
