View Full Version : barrel breaks due to fast shooting?

lately ive been having a slew of barrel breaks (about one every 300 balls) and im not sure why. it seems to only happen during insanely high rates of fire (i play with TR set to all the LEDs). it is always a barrel break and i always ee a ton of shell fly out the end of my barrel. like i said though, this only happens when im reeeeally railing paint. could this be a ball catching up to another ball in the barrel? that is the only logical thing I can think of. if it is, what can i do to stop this. thanks.

It may answer some of your questions...

You might be operating in Demo mode...

Hope this helps...

Without factoring in acceleration in .05 microseconds (which is the time required to achieve 20bps) a ball will travel 15 feet @ 300 fps.

and it's not demo mode cause then he couldn't shoot paint

hmmm, first of all i have V2 software so demo mode is not possible.
secondly, el pirata, assuming maybe one ball was slightly larger than another one and its contact with the barrel slowed it down? i dunno, but i find it hard to be a coincidence (sp?) that this only happens when im railing paint.

In a perfect world it is not possible to have one ball hit another in the barrel however in reality say shooting a ball that's slightly larger and thus slightly slower followed by a ball that's slightly smaller and you have the potential to have a mid barrel collision. Sorry I had not finished my post easrlier when I hit submit and I forgot to edit to add the rest of the info.

ouch. i mean i could even tell this was happening seeing like sooo much shell fly out. well i just got a freak and had been shooting a 691 stiffi so maybe this rage about shooting a 695 isnt just hype.

this happesn to me tooo; like ill be shooting some balls at like 10-12 bps; then when i really want to shoot fast itll shoot fast like 18-20bps and then its doing fine then KABOOM a barrel break.

ya, this has to be the problem. im gonna try a .695 when i get my freak and see if that solves it. everyone who is having this problem, could you post your bore size and barrel used? thanks.

14 in .691 stiffi old style porting

I have had the same problem but I look at the percentages. 4-6 breaks out of a 1 1/2 cases. about 0.2%. I can live with this.
Check below as I have fiddled with the bore size "fix"

I was using the following setup when this happened:
* Fastest hopper speed (4 lights)
* Trigger snubbing (6 lights) I have version 2 software. (can someone tell me the difference between ver 1 and ver 2 software?)
* Empire loader on the fastest setting
* Fuel paint (outside temperature was 70 degrees).this paint seemed very fragile.
* Evil Pipe Kit with largest bore size attached (I went to this after I broke the first 2-3 shots using a mid sized bore and tried to fix it with the largest bore size. However, I had the same results.). I guess the pipe kit is a good kit to use as it clears itself out quick because I kept on shooting after the breakage and was shooting near pefect after an additional 4-6 shots. I heard it has something to do with the angle of the pipe porting on the front half of the pipe kit.

Bottom line is for me is, I would expect a few breaks now and then. way too many variables in paint quality alone. Way too many variables in a marker shooting this fast. I would guess that limiting the balls per second by hopper settings both in the gun and hopper would eventually get you to an acceptable breakage percentage. But what fun is that!!

good luck
