i just took my son's speed 05 out of the box and here's the symptoms:
turned gun on, eyes indicate ball in chamber. pull trigger. it fires. let go the trigger. about three seconds later, it fires by itself.
Pull trigger again, nothing happens. attempt to turn eyes off holding trigger for at least two seconds and they won't turn off. no matter how long you hold the trigger, they won't turn off.
repeated pulling of the trigger results in nothing happening.
So, I performed the trigger adjustment from the manual.
Found that I could get the gun to work normally but adjusting the overtravel thumbscrew to the point that it now has maximum overtravel.
So the gun works and will shoot great now except that it has way too much overtravel.
Has anyone seen this before?
Can I remedy this without sending the gun in for repairs?
Looking for speedy help here. Playing tomorrow.
thanks.

have you adjusted the tow screw? its that screw that goes into the trigger from the front, screw it out a little. that should work. and check the eyes just to be sure they arent dirty or messed up in any way.

i tried to make my gun act like yours did, so you can do the same thing that i did but in reverce. couldnt get it to do that. try taking the tow screw as far out as possible, maybe its just not far enough out. the venier locks have to be tightened eqally, or they will move the trigger a little. ie: half turn on each side at a time

Check if the activation point of the trigger is past the opto switch happened to me when I adjusted the trigger the first time

Well, all you do is depress the trigger, and when the gun clicks, that is the activation point. Just make sure you give it enough room to travel back. Also, you dont need to lock the wheels, I just leave mine there. It lets me adjust it mid game, so I can go from shooting long strings of paint to snap shooting.

Not that adjusting a trigger in mid game is true life threatening but it could mean you could go the wrong way just a little too far and not be able to shoot the person before they bunker you. But hey, keep adjusting it while you play and tell everyone you know to do the same. It'll make games easier for me.

lol
no no its not quite like that
Its like in the first seconds, i keep it long and lane off the break
then I shorten it a bit right after I get to my bunker, which is in the beginning, and of course i wouldnt do it if we all got shot out
but I guess I will keep doing it till i do get shot, lol

that's what I did. And to get the gun to shoot I had to set the overtravel thumbwheel such that it is at maximum overtravel. As a result, it's not at a desirable position from the standpoint of being able to shoot quickly.
it seems to me that something isn't right if the gun comes out of the box and the thumbwheel has to be taken to the full end of it's adjustment range in order to get the gun to shoot.

Fixed it, I think. Took shaq's suggestion of adjusting the toe setting. it was apparently way way way off. used the manual discussion of how to set overtravel, stroke and toe and after several iterations got the overtravel back to a reasonable level. Bottom line, the toe adjustment was way off.
I can't exactly explain how the toe was making it necessary to have excessive overtravel but it worked.
thanks.

If you've adjusted the TOE you must apply some blue loctite to the screw threads. I've had some problems with a few markers on my team (especially on the Fly) where if the screw is not loctited down it'll back itself out during the day until the point where it no longer activates the trigger.
