bottom left of page 13 in the manual:

"NOTE: The Angel Eyes sensor MUST NOT be PULLED out of the body by the ribbon cable, the sensor MUST be PUSHED out using a suitable blunt pick from within the body"

There were wrenches sent with the speed? Oh well looks like my lhs scavenged a few things before I bought it.

yep. lemme tell you. i opened up my son's speed 05 today and it actually had shims in it. i didn't get any shims with my speed 05... but it did have allen wrenches and a set of o-rings.

I know that I for one lacked shims... Anyhow, back to the point:

For the removal of the eyes I used needle-nose pliers. I clamped them on the metal posts of the eyes and gently pulled. As long as you use the least amount of force possible you're fine.

or do what the manual says (usually the best way) - push them out with a "suitable blunt pick"

i dont...i just unscrew everything and gently pull them out by the ribbonI "tried" doing that and ended up having to bring my Angel to Ken to get some new eyes put in. When I told him how I broke the eye's ribbon, I think he wanted to jump over the counter and strangle me for mistreating my Angel :stooges: .

Not really, he just replaced them and showed me what type of blunt pick he uses.

When I changed my new eyes for the laser eyes, I just used an allen key like everyone else recommends. Worked perfectly.

I bought a pick set with different angles, then tried to blunt the tips of them with a file. Works great at pushing the eyes out, even to get at tiny orings.

sounds like too much effort. what's wrong with a small allen wrench?

I'm pretty sure I'm in there pushing the eye but it just won't pop out. Are they normally difficult to push out?

Reason I want to pop it out is to clean the eye that "receives" because I'm getting a light that says "Eye Malfunction" and since I'm using the Tadao board it really limits my BPS.

Blck

theres nothing wrong wiht using the small allen wrenches. They work very good and they are easy. I myself use the allen wrench to take em out.

best size? one that easily fits through the hole. You may as well go ahead and get a selection of metric allen wrenches. you'll eventually need them all.
