Looking for ideas on what tool you use to push the exhaust valve out. Last time I did it, I used a 12 gauge wire with insulation, used a pair of needle nose pliers to roll the end of the wire and the insulation around the wire became the blunt object I used to push the exhaust valve guide out.
Didn't really like the idea of wire inside there that could scratch the internals were it not for the insuation around th wire.
What's the best tool to use?
thanks.

A blunt dental tool / pick. I sanded the sharp point off mine, and it worked fine.

.... the lowest cost tool that is non-marring, non-gouging that I use is a wooden dowel, available at any craft or hardware store, in multiple diameters.
it is also good for theose items you need to "pull" out, but can also "push" out like the LPR (if you remove the battery).

Dental picks, "borrow" a few next time you are at the dental office. They do sell pick sets at hardware stores in the tool department. It's only a couple of bucks for a set of 3 or 4. HOwever, while you are there I'd pick up a dowel and use that because it will be the most friendly to all of the surfaces of your marker.

for the wooden dowel trick, I'm assuming you're talking about removing the ram and pushing the exhaust valve out from behind, right?
otherwise, I'm not sure how the dowel is going to get the valve out.
thanks again.

i use an old drum stick and it works great. the back end is a hemisphere so i never have to worry about any marks. you could "borrow" one of your friends sticks, if he plays. and if u play even better.

yes but...
how do you use it? do you take the ram out and push it out from behind or what?

be sure to remove the valve holding pin that is located above the grigger frame. i cant remember but i think i pushed from the back.

that's the only way I can figure that a dowel is going to be useful. take the ram out and push the valve out from the back.

yes you have to take the ram out

i sort of found that out by accident that taking the ram out was the best way to go. would have thought the manual would tell you that.
I'm petrified of scratching something inside the bore with a 'blunt' object removing the valve by pulling it forward.

Talk to your dentist on your next appointment. Have them hold thier old ones for you. They sharpen them until they cannot use them anymore than you can blunt one when they give it to you.
I wouldn't be too afraid of scratiching anything. 1) The valve guide is stainless and 2) If you did scratch the inner tube - it wouldn't matter. Everything would seal and the volume of air would be the same.

..good catch ther ZoomZoom, I should have clarified by saying those Angels with the 'old style' battery. Not owning an 05 Speed, or finding one of the manuals at the WDP site, I would imagine that the left tube is still hollow from the rear to front for purposes of weight saving as well as manufacturing costs, so IF SO, it still applies to the 05's.
