I've shot about 3 cases through mine so far and it's still really inconsistant... about +/-15 fps. After looking around on here to see just how long it takes to break the 05 Speed in (in hopes of eliminating my inconsistancy problem), I've found all sorts of answers ranging from one to ten cases! Can we come to a final consensus about how long it takes to effectively break in the 05 Speed?

It all depends on the gun, they are all different. Shoot a few more cases.

Amen. There's no "right" number. I've gotten +/- 5 out of the box on a Fly. My personal experience indicates that the marker is officially broken in when you reach 30,000 cycles and you perform a full service on the marker.

But that's just me.

Are you referring to the type and/or quality of balls people are using? If so this should have little to no impact on the break in time but is a determining factor in the velocity inconsistancies.

i would assume hes talking about bore size, cuz that would make sense.

but thats not it cuz my bore size matches(im not talking about break in time now, im referring to velocity fluctuation)

Velocity fluctuation for paint to bore match, absolutely. Breakin for paint to bore match, probably little to none.

Ya but I've heard its better to break in the gun while shooting paint rather than dry firing because it resistance

Yes, that is true. While firing balls the parts have added resistance where there is going to be resistance. Dry firing only lets the marker go through the motions. I suppose you could break in a marker by only dry firing but I would imagine it would take twice to three times as many shots to break it in. If they're saying 5 cases of paint to break in then you're looking at 20000 - 30000 cycles dry firing. Personally sounds a might bit boring to me.

My consistancy developed after about 1 case (and a butt load of dry-fires) and a full cleaning. Since then, I probly have about 15,000 shots on it and shoots like a dream.

I dont know when the full break in period was over, but I setup the gun last sunday with my volumizer to run off of a 37 LPR and dwell of 12. Runs great.
