My guess is when he took the backplate off he lost the spring, so you probably don't have a spring in there anymore..... Just take the backplate off really slow and cup your hand around it...if there is a spring it will shoot out..if not then you need a spring...

Well normally even without the spring it wont slide open and closed...so your breech rod might be broken as well or something....

If your spring is gone find a pen with a spring in it and take it out if its to short strech it out.

i fogured it out this morning 5min beofre prac started he somehow managed to put it in on te wrong side so the dirt and old paint in there wud old about 5 secsinds then it wud pop out but thanx for the help guys
On this subject, where is the spring supposed to go? In between the little part of the rod that sticks out (and hits the back plate, preventing the rod from coming out when the back plate is on) and the back plate, or on the other side of that little part? In the LCD manual it looks like it's supposed to be on the other side, but mine only works if it's in between the little thing and the back plate. Just curious.
Mine didn't have a spring when I got it and the rod slide in and out from time to time like yours, I just used one from a pen.
