you can run a HP tank, you just have to do a small mod to your minireg
search minireg mod
yes a lot of people do it
and no its not bad for your gun
you can switch it back if you want too

For the lp/hp tanks, some have the output press. on the reg. Some have different colored regs, and some, you'll just have to check with the company to find out.

i'm not sure if most tanks say if they're LP or HP on the tank itself, so i'm not sure if you can tell just by looking at it, but when you buy one, either from an online site or someone else, they'll definitely tell you. just ask. most (if not all) 3000psi tanks are HP, if you're wondering. other tanks, such as the Crossfire tanks, are color coded to tell you the output pressure. Red is HP, and blue is LP.
i would definitely suggest getting an LP tank. it makes life so much easier. you say you're short on cash, and that's understandable, but definitely make that a priority in the future. what you can do for now is either the mini-reg mod (which entails removing some of the spring stack in the minreg) or getting an aftermarket reg which will allow you to get your velocity under 300fps. the minireg mod is free (just need circlip pliers) and is easily undoable (is that a word?)

you may not need to do the minireg mod. alot of people using HP tanks have problems, and cant lower their velocity enough to meet field limits.
the minireg mod isnt bad for your gun, and its as easy to undo it as it is to do it.
here is the explanation on how to do it.

For Crossfire tanks -Tanks with a red reg are high pressure tanks with a blue reg are low pressure. I used an HP tank on my speed for awhile and it was hard to get my velocity down, I had to lower my LPR and take a bunch of shims out. I eventually got it shooting at a consistent 265 which was ok. I ended up switching to a conquest. One of the owners at my local shop has a speed and uses a HP tank on it and it works just fine. Once he broke it in he hasn't had any problems, and has done no mini-reg mods or anything. I would look into the mini reg mod I went through a lot of work to get mine working right and I wish I would have known about the mini-reg mod.
Ok i sold my Hp tank for 50 bux shipped and im saving for a Lp tank.. THANKS GUYs!
