You really should. I believe it states that in the manual as well. 2-3 drops straight in the mini reg is all you need. This should be done each day before a day of play.

yea, just make sure that there is no oil on the bolt. if you put the oil in the asa, afterwards, take the bolt out and wipe it down. no oil should be on the bolt.

p.s.- it is good procedure to send it to the MasterTech's every now and then for a full haulover. Get packages like the full service packages, where the entire gun is taken apart cleaned, and needed parts are replaced.
