Paintball history 101

Back in 86 when I first started playing they were using .50, .62, and .68 for paintballs (there might have been more but we're accessing memory 18 years old). The .50 was only used in one maybe two markers. The .62 was used in the original Tippmann SMG-60 with it's 15 ball capacity. The .62 was also used in one of the converted Crossman 357 pistols but aside from that I am not sure which other markers used .62.

Now finally .68, for whatever reason the forest service chose to outfit their fleet of tree markers with .68. When the industry started making aftermarket parts as the sport began to grow most people copied the bore of the only marker anyone was using. The other caliber balls were from a few bold people that tried something else that never caught on. The vast majority of today's players don't even know that paintball didn't always use a .68 caliber ball.

.50 amd .62 is too small anyway. .68 is just right and it is also close to a 12 gauge shotgun and you can use some tools with the shotgun and paintball markers.

i thought it had something to do with a law but wasnt ever sure...cause i know some calibers of weapons arent considered "destructive" and some are...like a 9mm isnt but a .50 cal is...

im designing a breach loading paintball cannon...just for §§§§s

lets just say McDonalds is gonna be missing a few balls from their playhouse...

ive used shaved tennis balls, golf balls (my favorite), "cartriged eggs", and various fruits...this will be my first experiment with the balls....i just dont know what i should do about sealing it after its filled (injected im assuming)..i dont want it to act like a lob-sided paintball in the air...

I'm actually thinking you'll need to add a little weight into the McDonalds balls. I just remember them to be a little on the light side. Maybe making a small hole and filling them with sand or dirt. Ought to be enough to knock someone down depending on the velocity.

i will be filling them with paint....i hope its a sick as im thinking....my luck it will be an absolute failure, or explosive...

That'll be one hell of a paintball. I still think depending on the velocity the ball has the potential to knock someone down.

A gun that shoots balls from the mcdonalds playhouse....be sure to hit some kids. 5 points if you nail them in the chest, 5 bonus points if you get them to fall over. :)
