I just bought me a brand new dust black 05 speed ...i have an up'd vision impulse as my back up marker. I was thinking about trading the impulse in and getting a new dm5 for my back up marker. Also, another nice little fact i get to say is that i own both dye's 05 gun and wdp's 05 gun lol
What do you guys think?

Why not just buy another Speed 05 if you have the cash to throw around.

Because i'm looking for a change of scenery. I love my 05 speed and will probably never trade it or sell it but I want another high end gun to tinker with and the dm5 is lookin sweet.

DM5's are very nice.. You can set them up to feel exactly like your Speed. They aer about the same length and are very compact..
Pick up and Old school Angel and get it retro'd..shoot some peoplez in the face

The DM 5 is a great marker too. The other question I have for you is why you are wanting to upgrade. Granted having a great backup is a good idea but with a marker that's as consistant as an Angel backups are not as necessary as say a cocker (in the hands of an unskilled user) in needing a backup

Also, based on my experience with Impulses they are pretty well built and durable. I liked them almost as much as Angels.

Investing all that money in the DM5 to make it a backup seems like a waste. Honestly, go with two Speeds if you want a backup. Or perhaps a gently used Fly, to compliment the gearbag. I made the addition of having a completely identical rig in my gearbag (spare halo, spare crossfire preset) and I couldn't be happier. This way if one marker went down I could be on the field ready to go in 5 minutes without any additional adjustments.

If you want something different, I'd reccomend the proto. Cheaper than the DM5 to have as a backup.

IE: different ROF, trigger length/tension, accuracy, efficiency, etc...

I don't necessarily only use my backup marker when my main gun breaks down. I'd probably be using it every other game. Anyway, even if I end up not liking the dm5 i know i'd be able to trade it for an angel ...probably an 05 speed lol

True. I could buy me another 05 speed, put a newton evolve kit on it, red mamba stiffi switch kit, a uni mount and the g7 laser eyes with the extra $400.

I always said that but more often than not my new "backup" became my primary and my previous primary became my backup. It's your money so get what you want.
