Long Live The LCD!!

It says that it has an IR3 ram and IR3 14 way, then why is the body still so long?
Syentific
01-07-2003, 05:41 PM
From what little I have heard, it is not suppose to be LCD length. It is suppose to be IR3 length.
There really isnt much pertinent information released as of yet.
Sick milling though.
WarpedKid02
01-07-2003, 06:51 PM
Thats correct, the body is smaller than the acutal LCD body.

dang, when that happens, Im salling my old Angel and other stuff to buy one of these 03 LCDs!!
WarpedKid02
01-07-2003, 08:44 PM
I have been told they have been made so that WDP will have something to compete with the Timmy, Impulse, and others.
Since the ir3 blows them away, I guess WDP wanted to make it a little fair. Just the looks of the New LCD blows the other markers away.
ShadowsOfTheFallen
01-07-2003, 09:03 PM
hell yeah, the new lcd, imo, blows the IR3 away in the looks department as well.

these are sweet. i think im gonna get one if i can sell my cnc ir3 for what these cost. lol. thats right im gonna give up my ir3 with mem6 and cops2 for this LCD! cops2 works amazingly and the spaceframe is super comfy but with an evolution2 i dont need an anti chop system and id take an lcd frame with a shorter over all height than a more comfy but taller space frame.
i think the point of the ir3 14way is to allow for more milling to be done. i dont think it makes a noticeable difference in length though. that thing is carved to almost nothing and i love it. theres no meat above the barrel threads or by the feed tube. and all the metal above the 14way looks like it is gone. looks alot shorter this way. i bet these things are light as heck and i cant wait to see one. also, i wonder what kinda software this thing has. that would be cool if they still allow the use of the lcd data link so u can unlock extra firing modes.

The '03 won't be any smaller than the old LCD, with the exception around the back where the solenoid is located. The ir3 solenoid will allow more material to be cut off there. They are apparently keeping the old LCD body extrusion and fitting ir3 internals in it.
No COPS, IR, or sealed board of course since it's the exact same LCD board.
One benefit the gun MAY have is increased efficiency over the previous LCD design. Looking forward to it, this is a good step for WDP.
WarpedKid02

I think heard that it is actually suppose to be smaller in length. The ir3's Ram Assembly is smaller than the LCD's.

01-08-2003, 02:50 PM
I was assuming the same...:rrrright:
Monkey2674
01-08-2003, 04:37 PM
Well look at the pics, it is clear that it is the same length as the other LCD's.
Syentific
01-08-2003, 04:59 PM
Of course I am only debating assumptions, and you know what they say about assuming things...
My thoughts are this:
If it is going to utilize the IR3 internals, why go through the process of producing two separate bodies. In my opinion, it would make more sense for WDP to unify the bodies and only have one flavor in production. Then it comes down to the only difference being; one is drilled for cops and one isnt. NOT, one is longer and the other is shorter.
That way, not matter what gun it is, it runs through the same production process instead of two separate processes. Also, from a marketing standpoint, not they have a updated LCD, keeping the hardcore LCD faction happy (shadows OTF...you know what I am saying) and at the same time you are giving WDP newbs a chance to jump in the family at a very reasonable rate with VERY reasonable returns.
ShadowsOfTheFallen
01-08-2003, 06:23 PM
yeah, i think this is something that should of been done when the IR3 came out but i can see how that would of hindered IR3 sales. why waste 400 more for the IR3 when you could of bought this marker, besides the spaceframe? but we all know what the trick is to this now. buy the new LCD and then add that ........... from ............ then you have a IR2.9 or something to that effect.
i couldnt use the name of that company for the space frames because it might get the thread moved to the trash can.

I hope its not the same lenth as the ir3. It would almost be pointless. If it is the same lenth as the ir3, that means all ir3 resales will go way down. Thats because WDP is suppose to release the Spaceframe soon. It would basically be an IR3 with the LCD board. I really hope that WDP keeps the colliding of IR3s and LCDs as far as they can so they can actually be different guns.
CpCnCir3
01-08-2003, 08:17 PM
i noticed people keep saying its longer than ir3s, im willing to bet its the same lenght as ir3s. if they put an ir3 solenoid and ram in it then it has to be the same body or else what would the point of it be?? also just something to think about: notice how it LOOKS longer because all the meat is gone by the barrel threads, feed tube, and above the 14way. it doesnt have as much of a height to length ratio as other angels. i think thats why every says its still as long as an lcd.
Monkey2674
01-08-2003, 08:36 PM
It is the same length as the other LCD's, heres a comparison picture.
WarpedKid02
01-08-2003, 09:29 PM
CpCnCir3, you are seeing the same thing I see. The ir3's Solenoid and Ram Assembly are smaller than the LCD's. That means they would no fit. Anyways, we don't really know yet until we get actual word.

how bout' instead drop that damn ugly chain frame, get a regular frame and add a rear grip as part of the frame ( 1 piece) and have an option for a single trig frame, now that would be bad ass.
cuz now its like a girl with a perfect body and a f*ed up face...and that just ruins it.

i kind of have to agree with you on the trigger frame. but a whole trigger frame with a snatch grip? why not just add the snatch grip? and a single trigger frame takes away from the mass production part of the gun. the more you make of one thing the cheaper it can be sold. thats why colors are so limited on regular LCDs. but anway, the chain grip looks fine in those dust colors and it gets the job done. besides WDP has to do something with those extra trigger frames they couldnt sell.

What part of the picture do you not understand?
The ram threads into the body, the solenoid bolts over it. They would simply have to change where the body fixings for these two pieces are, which would not be hard. Simply program alteration.
You can see the top back of the '03 LCD is cut down more due to the smaller solenoid, which sits lower in the back of the gun. The former LCD solenoid would stick out of the body and actually into the site rail. This is not an issue with the new solenoid.
As for why didn't they just use the shorter iR3 body, who knows. Could be a number of reasons. Perhaps they still had a lot of LCD extrusions, or want you to have to pay extra to get the ir3's size.
I like the looks of the gun, everything but the chain frame. I have to agree it's not very attractive. Also they are apparently all dust colours which kinda sucks in my opinion.
I guess we'll have to wait until more info is out so our speculation can be verified or discredited.

NEW NEWS!
I emailed Frazer last night and this is what he wrote back:
The gun comes in 3 colours only, silver blue and black, all finishes are in Angel dust. The guns features include Gated feed, chain frame, new skeletal trigger, the gun also incorporates the IR3 14 way and the IR3 supa-glide ram, this allows us to reduce the back end height and wrap the 14 way cover round the back end rather than having the protrusion of a sight rail.

Subject: 2K3 LCDs
What info can you give out about the new 2k3 LCDs? Which internals does it use? IR3 or LCDs? How much does it weigh? How much does it retail for? When will they be avalible? Andwhat colors will they be in? Some one has posted pictures of a blue and a black 2K3 on angel-owners.com forums and a lot of people want this marker but are not sure what features it has. It would be very much so appreciated if you can disclose some of the features and information to everybody at the angel-owners.com crew. Thank you.

That thing is pretty short, i wonder if you could put a Fly iR3 low rise on it... Well isn't that great of WDP to sell us the "unique" iR3 only to turn around and stuff the features into an extremely cheaper model. It'd be nice if WDP returned some of the loyalty and trust they get from their customers. Screw it, i'm buying an X-Mag :pisss:

A low rise gated feed will fit. The ir3's and LCD's rise threads are the same.

I spoke to Ron at Mo's the other day, that includes a LIFETIME WARRANTY. They are expecting all three colours in next week.
I don't think the Fly feed tube will work on these because of the breech as mentioned.
looks like a mix breed of the GZ timmy and LCD... has very similar milling on the upper portion of body... looks hot though... good price too...

Anyone know what type of board they are putting in the 2k3. Will it be semi only like the IR3 or all the modes like the 2k2 LCD's?
That would be nice to know.
Has anybody bought this that has an IR3? Just wondering what you liked and didn't like. My friend is getting an Angel when he gets his tax money, just wondering what you thought. Any input would be great.

Any new on the board. Are they going to lock out the mode just like IR3? Have anyone received one yet?

The board is exactly the same. Not sure if the modes are locked or not. If it has the Data-Link port, I will try it on my one of my teammates 2K3.
