Hey guys,
After couple consecutive disappointing days with my Shocker, I'm considering going with an Angel after playing with a Guy's 05 Speed.

I'm looking for couple quick and easy answers

Is there a considerable difference between the Fly and 05? Performance wise?

If I was looking for used Fly's or 05s any upgrade that will be a big plus?

I'm leaning towards the Fly because its more expensive (bag logic? Of course), I just want a really reliable marker so I figure the Fly would be better than the 05.

Sorry bout the noobiness, but this is the first day I started reading about Angels.

Tip #1. Newbs don't start out with 05 Speeds.

I consider myself a Noob in the Arena of Angels. Not Paintball lol...I've been playing for 7 years, and 2 years seriously.
Please more tips. :fade:

I would go with the 05 speed, it doesn't have the lcd menu that the fly has or the rechargable battery, but the trigger system is much better as is the mini reg. Everything else, like the ram, bolt, valve, and such are the same between the two guns.

We all start off as noobs, even the MT's had to start somewhere. He's doing the right thing by asking questions to get him off on the right foot, so lay off.

As far as performance wise, I haven't shot the 05 enough to give you and honest answer, but the both rip when set up properly

About the only thing that you would want to upgrade is the barrel, anything else is pretty much cosmetic.

As far as price, it doesn't mean that one is better than the other. A few thing that the Fly has that the 05 doesn't is the LCD and battery in the power tube. Those 2 alone cost a few bucks that increases the price.

Each is just as reliable as the other, it all depends if you want bells and whistles(fly) or not.

Check some threads here or WDP's site for the specs and features on each marker. See what suits you better and make your choice from that.

I would go with the speed as well. The price difference doesn't mean much in this comparison. Both shoot equally well from what I've seen, and as stated before only pay the extra bucks if the lcd and rechargeable battery are that important to you. If you find a used one, a barrel is nice and I feel that the volumizers are almost required for the best performance. Other than that it's probably cosmetic. Then again, If you wait for a while before you purchase one, look and see if you can find one with the g7 stuff in it. It may be a while before that is even available, but just keep your eyes open.

Great...This is what I wanted to hear. Great forum you guys have also by the way. :) Thanks for the info too.

Would my MacDev Conquest Air System work on it, the input pressure varies from 150 - 700.

Furthermore, what kind of threading is on Angels, I'm gussing Angel threading, I have a freak system...Maybe there is a Shocker to Angel adapter, or I will just get an Angel Back.

And I've been reading some on Software, different versions...some say they have 'ACE.' If I do go with either the fly or Speed, should I keep it stock and wait for the GZ-7 Board?

Thanks again.

The Conquest works great, its the one I use and a bunch of other people as well. Arguably the best system on the market. As for the barrel, you'll end up needing a new back.

Your Mac Dev should be fine, set your input pressure to 400-450 psi.

Yes, Angels have Angel threads, your best bet is to get a seperate back for it.

The software versions are just slight upgrades. As long as you have 3.5 you should be fine. Even people running software from 3.2 and up are good, it's just some minor setting that you have to tweak.

ACE = Anti Chop Eye, the Fly and 05 have the EyeQ system so you don't have to worry about that. It's put in at the factory so there's no ghetto JB weld holding on the eyes or anything like that. It's part of the marker and looks flawless.

How do the Speed's work with HALO's?

I found a new Angel for $840 I think I'm going to buy it, its blue. :taxi:

840 is a good price, but its almost too good to be true. make sure you aren't getting scammed... if its real, go for it. thats the best deal ive ever seen on an 05 speed. as you can see from past threads, 05's have some trouble with chopping at first if you don't set the RAM correctly. So if you are using a halo, you might want to go over to the chrono with a bag of paint and see if you chop. if you chop you will have to adjust the ram.

This guy has pristine feedback, and he says he traded it for a shocker from a dealer, so the base price is low. He is getting out of paintball and needs cash bad.

Looks like I might be hanging around here a lot. :nerd:

upgrades to get
barrel - im rocking the 14 in .691 stiffi
volumizers - 3 sum... anyone will do

by the time u get those you should be at the cost of the fly but id say its still worth it to go with the speed. i had a fly and the rechargeable battery gets annoying.

I will wait for reviews of any bolts I Guess. If I hear like 'OMG I shot 1000x better' then maybe I will consider it.

I have a freak kit, yes I know SP...I will get an angel back for it, and save cash on the barrel, any volumizer better than another or is it just cosmetics?

ya and an angel back for freak is like 70 bucks on paintballgear. i just got my stiffi slightly used for 70 shipped. or drop another 30 bucks and get a new stiffi. as far as volumizers go I got a dust black 3sum pack even though I already had a chrome cp one on my 2k4 speed, but I got the new ones totally for cosmetic reasons.

Tip #1. Newbs don't start out with 05 Speeds.

Why wouldnt they start off with one? If they have the money and want a good marker (in theory anyway's. I have yet to have good -read: non-schopping- experience with my speed 05) noobs can start off with anything they like.

Thats like saying all new U.S. soldiers only get muskets and have to work their way up to an M4.
