i was playin today with my new a4 fly that i had setup by ken crane last weekend and it was choping like crazy whenever i got into the trigger at all. the eyes were on and i was using draxxus midnights. it was pretty cold (37*) but other ppl's guns were ok. so i cleaned up the breech, used some dustoff in there 2 make sure it was all out, than warmed it up and went back out, shot bout 15 balls shotgun style and than started 2 walk it a lil and it chopped again. whats wrong with my brand new gun? someone help me out :blasting: :fanboy:

I had the *exact* same problem with my fly new out of the box. Stretch the detent springs and you will be good to go.

Ok, I've determined that it's something with the Halo. Today I went out (same weather as yesterday and used same balls (Midnights)) but this time with my hopper on MED and with an Empire Reloader w/ Sound Activation instead of on SFAST w/ my Halo. I got into the trigger, getting the message "I like your style" and not a single break, where yesterday shooting this fast with the Halo guaranteed a ball break. So I'm going to take Jim from Impact's advice on another thread and grease the belt in the Halo to make it act as a clutch, allowing it to be easier on the paint. If this doesn't work than I'm taking it to Ken to see what's going on. Than I'll have him take a look at the detents or ram to determine if it's either of those should it not be the hopper. Than if not, I'm sure he'll figure out what's wrong with my brand new fly. :mt:

so its a double feed problem then huh

nooblighter6

hmm my local proshop thinks the ram needs to be adjusted but I'm waiting to hear from ken that will determine what the real problem is, im thinkin ram cause i dont really hear a click when the breech is closed :sure: :pissed:

i've found lots of flies are having problems with halos, fast ROF, and low quality paint. i cant say forsure, but the high cyle time, in turn causing the bolt to move real fast, combined with the halo's pressure and the lower quality paint, just cracks a ball or two in the feedneck. fortunatly, if you've got your angel set correctly and good, working, parts, you'll just get a nice mess in the barrel, and mybe a drop or two, if not less, in the breech. fortunatly however, i've found the eyes can see right through that and more.

I used to think that the paint didnt matter, but i played in like 30 degree weather and woo man i was choppin, the i bought some night cat for cold weather and never chopped again. BTW i use a halo with the victory and it works flawlessly. . . with good paint

Yeah, I tested my converted a4 today at the field, it did great, I split a case of inferno with my teammate, and not a chop, just a barrel break, only one though. BUT, I bought 500 more of the white box paint.......and wow........every other shot was a chop. I will tell you now, spend the extra 5-10 dollars, its totally worth it, cheap paint just doesnt work well when you are shooting fast.

Black paint in the Halo?... what about black paint going through your eyes? You should always use light colored paint with visioned, eyed, ect. guns.
Last night I shot 2 month old brittle TC paint without a chop around 20 bsp in 70* weather.

my fly rips, I used crappy 2 month old PMI big ball today about 100 balls, 0 chops 0 barerl breaks

used severe a bag of it, 0 chops 1 barrel break but weather was freeeeezing

angels or any marker + cold weather = bound to chop

the barrels freeze from the air passing through and make condensation and BOOM u got barrel breaks

The color of the paint doesn't matter in a Fly because it uses break beam eyes.....

no it wasnt the fact that they were midnights, they were black like I said in another post long ago. Halos cant see black paint!

ha seriously, and ur halo seeing black paint shouldnt matter as long as you have the eyes on.

speedmarvelizeR
01-28-2005, 07:58 PM
it just means it wont shoot.

angelX
01-28-2005, 08:41 PM
no it dose make a diff tho, cause the halo is going to keep feeding even when he stops shooting and its goin to smoosh(sp?) the paint and break it, so ant is right

I sometimes have the same problems. For me my old reloader B's motor was to hard on the paint and the halo worked perfect. So i thought problem solved..
Worked for a while then with the halo it started to chop. Adjusted the ram and it worked. With my stock barrel it doesnt want to always shoot cheaper paint to the point every other one will break. Ofcourse that is just backyard shooting. When going to the field it works always with good paint.

My conclusion is that I just spent 1400 on a gun. Whats another 5-10 a day to make sure that i wont have any problems. You get what you pay for.

Hey Guys, Just want to confirm that changing loaders (and not paint) fixed my chopping problem. I almost sold my a4 fly but gave it one more chance.

I tried the following and always had chops:
1. Riotfeed with 9V (chops 2-3 times in one hopper)
2. Reloader B. (chopped all the time)

No Chops:
1. Egg
2. Halo with v35 (SENSITIVITY adjusted and lubed the o ring inside).

I used both fresh and 1 month old draxxus midnight paintballs (for all of my loader tests) and I'm still amused why I haven't chopped once today with the egg and v35 halo. I guess it's a different feeling to actually focus on the game, not on the marker.

Here are my settings:

50 PSI
Crossfire LP Fixed Tank
3.7 software
SFAST on Loader settings

Nothing changed on the gun, only loader types.
