I know, I'm still kind of stupid.... but shh, don't tell anyone...:sshh:

My Fly LCD still has the stock Bolt, and I'm still having really weird leaking problems- but I was just curious, how much better performance really shows when you switch to an aftermarket bolt?

Plus, I'm not sure if you'll recall but a while back I was having some problems with leaking. One could hear it plainly, but it got significantly louder when you took off the sight rail. I had it looked at be someone.. and for a while, after re-adjusting the clamp plate and manifold gasket, everything seemed to be just fine. 200 shots later, I was leaking again, but it seemed (this sounds REALLY stupid) to get louder now when I opened up the breech. Strange.
There was no real affect of performance, but it was soo annoying... anybody know what was going on with that??
Thanks you guys!
Liz

okay,... for the *rest* of you, yes, the O-ring under the breech is still in place, and it looks fine.

If you got the solenoid/14way and gasket checked out and they are ok, then it would be either exhaust valve or a chopped o-ring on the ram. Might be time to give your Fly a tune up and when all else is set correctly, like snap ring, LPR, etc. then you can a better idea.
Why *rest* of you? What's wrong with J.Gruber??

As for your bolt question, there have been good results with the following: Cobra, Warped Sportz R11, and the DEZign ertalyte open-face. If you do change bolts you will have to adjust your mini-reg again as most are freer flowing and you will chrono higher than before.

Hope this helps.

Personally I like the Dezign bolt, but it is the only aftermarket bolt I have used. I am going to give the R11 a shot for craps and laughs($hits and giggles).

J.Gruber: I dont think the breech oring would be the problem. If there is a leak, chances are it is before the breech oring and not at the breech oring. I dont know if that seemed obvious and maybe thats why Liz preferred to here someone elses opinion...?

just adding to the bolts list. I dont know when syentifics bolt was made but both mine and my friends were made in september and the stud snapped off of both bolts. I suggest the cobra over the Dezigns just because of that simple fact. they both seemed to perform about the same compared to the stock bolt but because it sucks having a stud snap off and jam in to the bottom of the gun I will not tell people to even try the dezigns.

I remember that well SOTF, Rob did indeed have a bad batch due to a problem with his jig. He quickly corrected it and I believe he made it right for all, did he not correct yours?

we never notified him about the bolts. and it doesnt matter now because i have the cobra which was 20 bucks less. besides, i dont want to have to worry about another one of his bolts breaking again. not to talk trash about his bolt but its just from experience.

If you can hear a leak around the breech, it could be a seal on your exhaust valve. When you open your breech, you can see the valve, thats why it would get louder. Check all those seals.

chances are its leaking from under the 14 way.it can be repaired by replacing the gasket in most cases.look to the list of sponsers for a service center near you if you need service.

THanks for all your help, guys! I'll look around and see.......Right now I'm kind of leaning twoard the Cobra bolt...it's $20 bucks less, but I'll ask around some more here too. Anyways, thanks!

if it is leaking from around the site rail it could be one thign over looked. When you take the sight rail off and their is the lock down for the solnoid their is also a small grub screw make sure that is tight that keeps the lock in tight and not wiggle loose

This happened to my teammate that recommended the bolt to me right after I bought my Angel. Luckily, when he sent his back the problem was explained and I had bought mine after that. I am just going to assume that I recieved a good one since it has not cracked on me yet.

At first, my teammate had assumed his snap ring was off, but that wasnt the case. FYI for those you have had the same problem.

yeah, when my friends bolt broke i thought it was that his ram wasnt adjusted right. but when mine broke, i knew that wasnt the case because my ram and snap rin was all adjusted. mine broke about a month after his did.
