View Full Version : 'Clacking' Noise on my JD Fly - any idea?

Well, I think I will probably send it in to WDP anyway but I wondered if anyone had come across this before...
When I am shooting my JD Fly now it has started to make a sort of clacking noise each shot, sort of like how a Timmy sounds. I know the sound of Angels well enough to know it isn't how it should sound.
Performance wasn't effected as far as I could tell but I am wondering if it is perhaps a part on the way out?
I checked all the obvious things (breech seal, barrel on tight etc)
Anybody come across this before?

is the Ram and Hammer assembly okay? Perhaps it has moved:dunno:

Hi Emmit, interesting you mention that as it was kind of what I was guessing it may be. It certainly sounds like something unrelated to LPR pressure and the like, it felt like it had a bit more kick than usual too but it's such a subtle change in that respect I couldn't say for sure.
However, I think I will do the sensible thing first and let Frazer and Co take a look before I end up stripping it down, putting it back together and ending up with spare parts ;)
Will post back when I find out what (if anything) is wrong with it in case anyone else has a similar problem in future...

I simply mentioned the Ram because the first thing that came to mind would be the bolt pin slamming against the body or something similar causing the abnormal sounds.
I'm sure that Frazer and his group of experts will make it work again without question;)

if it occurs after you shoot and let go of the trigger, it might be the back piece (the part of trigger that holds the toe screw) of the trigger hitting the frame on the return stroke.

Emmit - no doubt about that, am getting it in for a software upgrade anyhow so Mr Colley is going to take a peak (nice chap).
pookai - no, it's as the shot fires
crashdan, ok thanks for the info, will look into that. Could be that as I haven't checked the LPR pressure.
Will update once I've had it looked at...

Excuse me for stating something so drab, but I have seen Fly's with abnormal dwell settings sound pretty strange and un-Angel like. Again, sorry if you already considered this.
