Im about to purchase my first angel the o5 speed. Does it matter what type of volumizer you get (brands, size).if it does which one is the best.

no it doesnt matter. The most popular and best are the 3sum and the Master tech

when changing to a volumiser do u have to change the LPR chims to get lower pressure aswell?

removing shims from the lpr is what lowers the pressure.

ok so I got the 3sum and right now I got the big one on the valve side and the really small one on the lpr side, do I need to remove shims? I'm gonna go play friday night and I don't want to have to mess around with shims yet so should I just take the volumizer off the side with the lpr? and if anybody has any detailed info on volumizers and the differences in putting them on ether side say somethig or direct me to the info (I searched the faq and couldn't find anything) thanx.

You only need a volumizer on the valve side. A volumizer on the LPR side does nothing for performance, it's only there for looks.

AHHHHH!!! thank you! that what it looked like but I really wasn't sure, so any size is ok. thats good! any recomendations on which size to use? I'd assume larger volumizers would lower pressure and gas efficency relitive to their size. does anybody know how much on specific sizes? like I said I have a 3sum, the one in the manual that says will lower the pressure to 150psi looks like the med one.

Use the medium one, it's what the MT's suggest.

but for a 05 speed do u really need it?

I'm in the same boat with Hathegkla wanting to have 2 volumizers attached to the Speed 05 so lemme get this straight...using the 3Sum kit (which I have) the MT's suggest the medium sized volumizer from the kit on the valve side of the Angel and its said that you could install another volumizer on the LPR side but it won't do jack concerning performance and is only there if at all for cosmetics. Yes? If this is so, I guess I go with the suggestions and knowledge of the forums and redo my setup so that my medium volumizer is on the valve side and put the long volumizer on the LPR side purely for cosmetic purposes. Right now I have this set up flip-flopped.

I'm curious, why isn't the volumizer just incorporated into the gun? I mean, from the sound of it I don't see why you wouldn't want a volumizer. I'm new to Angels so bear with me if I sound like a n00b, 'cause I am.

So you can choose the pressure to run at.

Does the 05 come with a volumizer.

I don't think anyone has gotten a volumizer with their marker yet. That's the purpose of the redesigned flash tank, to act as an inline volumizer.

no it doesnt really need a volumizer but its kinda nice being able to change em up, I might get some chrome ones eventually, depends on what kinda barrel I get. and no the 05 speed does not come with a volumizer even though the manual says id does so if you order one make sure to get a volumizer with it (if you want one)

Hmmm...you think if we wrote to WDP and complained they'd send us a free volumizer? The manual does say one comes with it.

No, no volumizer is included with a 05 Speed even though the manual states otherwise. I attached a 3Sum volumizer kit to my new 05 Speed and tested it out today and outta the box this marker RIPS! I have the large volumizer on the valve side and the medium size on the LPR side. I filled my Crossfire LP 68ci/4500 tank and shot (ripped) 1000 rnds and still had 1500 PSI of pressure left. So I'm thinking 1500 rnds per tank fill IMO. Talk about efficent and my friends and I were shooting lazers w/ both the stock barrel and also a freak kit using .689 insert. We used Evil Midevil paint today. No chops, no breaks. My one friend is leaving the Timmy family for a Speed 05...he was that impressed.

Sorry if this seems like a dumb question but I am new to angels. So changing/adding the volumizer lowers the pressure and that gets you more air efficent? Why would you not stick the biggest volumizer on to lower the pressure a lot? I am a cocker owner and the only reson why lower pressure is good for cockers is so you dont chop balls and use a lot of air recocking. Would have gotten an angel but they were to much money now that the speed 05 is out thats a good price range for me.
Thanks,
Kyle

From what I hear, you can get your operating pressure down to 150psi and your LPR to something like 40-50psi (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

Hey guys,
Yes the manual may say that it includes a volumizer but it also says that the contents may vary because from time to time they change models, editions, bla bla bla. So I'm guessing they would just say no if you asked them for a free one. About volumizers though, they offer different sizes so that you can set the pressure you want to operate at. Plus, looks matter too. I've heard that the speed 05 can also benefit from the volumizers. Personally I would go with a fly. I've tried the speed 05 and fly, joy fly, force fly. Force fly is the best of them all functionally. It has a better valve etc. The only difference is the triggers on each gun. Remember, the more you pay the better the gun usually is. Like joy has more milling, force has custom parts, fly has lcd board, speed 05 has eyes. Hope that helps guys.
P.S. Sorry to babble on so much, lol
Of course a fly has more features than the Speed '05. But the question is: What's your budget and what you really need? Personaly, I'm happy to own a gun that performs just like a fly, with a better trigger for $400 less... However I like the board of the fly and the timmer feature is pretty usefull...

Ok, I didn't see an answer to this question, so I'm just gonna ask one last time, hoping we get a straight answer.
Do you need to remove shims when adding a volumizer?
Maybe another way to ask, would it be IDEAL to remove shims when adding a volumizer?
Thanks in advance for the info.
BTW, new to Angels myself. You guys have been extremely helpful w/ my conforming to WDP. :)

I am guess that the volumizer alone will not reduce the sound or "kick" that is mentioned because the pressure is the same. Therefore, some shims would have to be reduced to compensate for the added volume. The more regulated air in the volumizer should allow you to run at a lower pressure.
So for those with the 05: how many shims or what pressure are you guys running at with a volumizer? I imagine that you might have to change the dwell too.
I got my volumizers coming in next week but figure I'd run stock untill the 05 is well broken in. I also want to notice the difference that the volumizer adds. So I'll run stock for a while first.

I had the Angel techs at the Cup give mine the once over yesterday. They took off the volumizer I had on it(the lagest out of the 3 sum pack) and put the smallest one on. I only had 3 shims in there when I took it out of the box. I can't remember what pressure the guage showed, but they said it was super low. Absolutely no kick what so ever now(it had a slight kick before), and it rips even better than it did before I took it to them.

There is currently a thread going about reducing kick for the speed 05, you should be able to find some info there. I was told not to mess with the shims, keep it stock. I've heard that the factory setting of 70 psi is what the LPR should be at.
For clarification, using a volumizer does not directly increase efficiency. It allows your marker to cycle at a lower pressure because volumizers allow a larger quantity of regulated air to be stored. Each shot empties this reserve of lower pressure air.
When I bought my gun I set it up that day. On the first few shots, with no volumizers, it was at 255 fps. After adding the large volumizer and increasing the dwell one setting, I was shooting at 315. From there, I adjusted the output of the mini-reg to get it shooting about 285-290. I'm happy with the sound, the speed, the efficiency, and when I'm shooting good paint, I'm not breaking any. Hope this helps.
