i just got a used ir3 CnC previously owned by a member of a team called NY dawgs.
it has alot of custom work to it. and i know nothing about angels. neve owned or anything.
it has a 12" boomstick.i was told that stock barel sucks. and i am not getting it cause the guy did not have it. i am a back player on my team. and was wondering is that long enough to reach the field.
and is there anything i need to know about angel ir3's to help me use it better because i am not getting a manual or box or anything so i do not know where to begin. :get: so i am lost.. any help would be nice thanks in advance for any posts

you can download the Manual for your IR3 at the below link:
http://www.wdp.tv/manuals/index.htm?IR3_MANUAL/01.htm
thats WDP of course.
And when you power the marker up what does it say? Mem? thereshould be a # after the MEM 6e is the most up to date firmware for the IR3

if anything a shorter barrel would help. only the first 4-6 inches determines speed and accuracy of the ball.
so a shorter quality barrel wiht lots of R&D time will get you accuracy and distance.. porting would help stablize the ball but to an extent. too much porting decreases velocity. id say a good shorter barrel with no porting or minimal porting at the tip shooting great quality paint with a perfect paint/barrel match would give the best benifites.
the down side with a shorter barrel is you won't be able to push into air bunkers.
this is what i am getting from reading around about barrels.

Actually cougar your only half right there, the first 5 to 6 inches help with acceleration, anything after that helps with accuracy, but its a double edge sword and here is why. The longer the barrel more accurate the ball is going to be, but you sacrifice distance. The shorter it is the farther it will got, but not as accurate. The most popular barrel length seems to be 16 inch, I use a 14 myself and its perfect. I also have a 10 inch and I can notice when playing back that there is some major inaccuracy after 10 or 15 feet, so I just use the 14 inch tip now. Oh and yes your 12 inch should be fine untill you can afford another barrel thats a bit longer, dont go any longer then 16 its just stupid if you ask me to do that.

yeah i havn't tried many barrels, so my experiance isn't as high, it's just something i learned. makes sense what you say tho.... mine are 14" and i have trouble being able to tuck into bunkers and then be able to minimally expose myself and be able to shoot without hitting the bunker, so in order to not hit the bunker i gotta come out more.

Also something you haven't hit on yet is that if you can size the bore of your barrel to your paint you'll get a better seal on the ball. The better the seal of the paintball to the inside diameter of your barrel means less air is lost past the paintball and that much more is behind the ball as it travels through out the lenght of the barrel. Correct barrel bore to paintball = Better speed (velocity), improved accuracy and longer distance (again depending on the lenght of your barrel). There are a few damm good companys out there making these barrels some use differnt sized inserts (Smart Parts Freak system), Dye has barrels sized to the differnt ball sizes. And also theres The Pipe Kit, which is also a barrel system sized to the paint too. They say all paint is created equal? Not Even Close! Theres differnt sized, they have differnt weights and theres differn't quality. I found that Evil (any color) and All Star (any color) work best in My C&C Blue IR3. Both have a good overall roundness (and that counts in sealing the ball to the barrel).... But like Markers the paint is your perferance!

thanks alot guys. have been alot of help :) i will keep using these forums :)
Spanky after meeting the NY dogs a couple years ago at Challenge Cup I know they are stand up guys and they treat their equipment as such. So you shouldnt have to worry about anything but a barrel like your looking into. And like most I prefer a 14" all around the best length. Just get a kit you like the looks and thats versitle for you. Im only one of a few that shoot totally JnJ barrels the Full Tilt system. SS backs from a .686- .692 with any front, (8" rain tip to a 16" Ceramic coated) you think of I got it. Not the most widely used barrel but I have been rocking them since 2000 and havent used another since. And if you wonder my team is no longer with JnJ but I still rock these barrels and dollar for dollar they rock!

well thank you very much for the info on the team. i think i will be very happy with this one. this is the first angel for me to own. only shot like 3 but i was very impressed. My friends have named me the gun whore. i like to go from gun to gun. and i think i found a keeper. i was thinking about getting the JnJ edge kit or the 10 piece empire kit. now that you have said something about the jNj i will have to look into that more.
thanks again all
