OK, so the indoor field I normally play at (IMPACT) closed and I am pissed about it. It was a GREAT field. But now I must find another rainy day field. So my question is...Are there any indoor fields in Socal, near Orange County area I have not found any. Let me know. I need somewhere to play during the hard winters of SOcal LOL...PLEASE tell me there is another field.

X-park in North Hills in the San Fernando Valley. It's on Hayvenhurst, just north of Roscoe (off the 405 freeway). It use to be the Ice-O-Plex ice skating ring. www.xpark.com

I just heard about another field opening up in Santa Clarita (Santa Clarita Indoor). It's one field on astroturf. Opens on Jan. 15. Not sure of any details, but you can call Newmax in Canyon Country (paintball store) for the info.

Actually, it's my understanding that Hollywood Park is NOT indoor, but four outdoor scenario fields, and two small outdoor arena fields.

I've also got the skinny on the new indoor field opening in Santa Clarita.

It will be called "Santa Clarita Indoor Paintball - The Proving Grounds." It's located at 21618 Golden Triangle Rd. (661-251-9355 or 661-733-5462). I've attached a flier also. It looks like it's going to be a really well run place and a first class operation.

The field opens on Jan. 15. It's a very large, old hockey rink (without ice) and the field is made of astroturf that will be about an inch thick! (I went by today and watched the owner kneel down on paintballs on a piece of the turf and the balls did not break.) It should be slide-friendly. The old penalty boxes will be the dead-man boxes. From what I was told, it's going to be an ultimate air field (yellow and purple air bunkers).

There is plexi-glass around almost the entire field (300 degrees), however, there will be paintball netting on the inside of the glass around three sides (to keep them clean from paint). There is one side that has bleachers (about 5-6 rows high, almost half the length of the field) and there will be no netting covering the glass. Thus, spectators get a full on view of the action and yes, the owner told me that squeegies will be used to keep them clean so spectators can enjoy. There is suppose to also be netting above the field to prevent balls from going out into the bleachers and other non-play areas.

AMENITIES (that I know of)

Air conditioning.
Pro shop.
HUGE compressor for compressed air.
4500 psi fill station at the registration counter (which I believe is a monitored self-fill station)
Two 3000 psi self-use fill stations (one located at each of the corners where teams would break from - thus, you can literally fill right before the break! - very cool)
Really good lighting (a must for indoor fields)
Announcers booth.

They are also planning on starting a paintball league. Not sure of the exact details but it sounded really good.

Opening day/nite is January 15. Prices seem pretty good (not anymore than you spend at another field). Give it a try and show your support for this new (and from what I can tell, a well run) field.

Thanks,

No problem. I actually went by "The Proving Ground" today on the way home from work and that's why I have all the info. It is VERY spectator friendly (for all those soccer moms) and the field and lighting are going to be really great. They are having a 5-man tournament on Jan. 18 and I signed my team up. Apparently, the list is pretty full with teams and the field isn't even open yet.

It's also my understanding (from what I've heard) that it's part owned and/or operated by Arnold of BL's Ironmen. The owner/operator who I met today is also a baller and an extremely organized and customer-service oriented person.

If this field does half of what the owner expects, it's going to do extremely well.
