The plastic ones break. Matter of fact, mine broke today.

many people have complained about the drive cones breaking. What happens is the small tab that catches the spring breaks and then it becomes unuseable even with a rip drive. This would alleviate this problem, and at the cost of $5 a pop this price might be worthwhile.

yes but I'm reffering to the replacement cones that cost $5 a pop. So each time you break one of the plastic drive cones it costs you $5...that can add up quickly sometimes. Add in the time that it takes to do so, and if you're at an event you don't always have that time.

i was just talking about this today with a teammate, we were saying that some one should make aluminum drive cones. i have a small collection of 3 of them sitting here in front of me. its about time they addressed this!!!

I have broken 2 drive cones already, and the plastic on my rip drive got shot off.
Metal> plastic, especially in this situation. This is a great idea, and these will sell like hotcakes.

Mine broke a while back, just drill a hole where it broke off (underneath) and screw a small self tapping screw in from the bottom instead. It is then far stronger structurally and mine has been perfect ever since ;)

Actually agg is short for aggro which originated in the 80's as a skateboarding term. Aggro is in turn short for aggressive. So yes, the aluminum drive cones are indeed aggressive. :cool:

Wut we do down here is take a peice of metal (about 1/8"x1/8") and Melt the Plastic tab and stick the metal into the melted platic tap them throw some super glue on it... Now we don't have to ghetto mod our shiznite ne more.

Well I have taken small screw and placed where tab is inside cone.

Done this on two Halos with no breaks (cones that is) since I put them in about 4 months now.

Hrm...got the parts in today...the cone is milled aluminum! Much heavier than I anticipated. Got practice this weekend, so I guess I'll find out if the added weight adds or subtracts from performance. I got a feeling that it'll have nil effect...the added weight may slow the loader down, but then again, that added weight may add to the inertia of the part and smooth and possibly speed load speed. Review coming!

I would think the if the paint is under so much pressure the plastic would break, if you ever wanted to use the rip drive you would get a very nice blender going.
