What exactly is the body of an IR3 made of? Aluminum? I'm thinking of refinishing my gun myself and I'm trying to find out if there are alternate methods other than anno. Does anyone know how the "dust" finish is achieved....... Thanks

Yes the body is made of aluminium, and to get that "dust" finish before annodizing you bead baslt, or sand blast the metal giving very very small dents all over the body, so the finish isnt smooth, but porous, giving it that flat look. And you can paint aluminium but it cant stick to the metal so it wont stay on the gun, so basically no there isnt an alternative to annodizing.

Im pretty sure you can powder coat aluminum. So you can look into that also.

you can..however it significantly changes the tolerances on the marker, and can adversely affect it.

Yes cause powder coating puts an extra layer on the gun, and unless you made sure that none of your threading and none of the guns internals got the powder coat in them, it wouldnt work. Cause you wouldnt be able to screw anything back into your gun, and your ram wouldnt fit, nor your lpr and valve, the bolt wouldnt be able to move, so on and so on.

powder coating requires the part to bake in an oven. i do not know the exact temperature but i hope it wouldn't be enough to warp the metal. any warpage anywhere on the body and your screwed
