Yep; that's its only source of power. No big ol' 4.8V or 6.0V rechargeable as in the past, only a 9V.

Question: If you play in the rain (because I live in Oregon) will it fry the board?

If you get enough water inside the grip, yes. You could line the grip panels with some grease, or silicone, where they meet with the grip frame. That would form somewhat of a seal against larg splashes of water.
You know the down poor you would have to be in for anything like that to happen? Besides that techincally if you get enough water into the grips and by somehow it got across the contacts of a bettery it shouldn't effect the board at all. Current will flow from the negative to the positive post on that battery neglegating anything the gun will see. Basically the encapsillated board would not see that happen. All it would know is that the battery is now disconnected (even though its a short). Hard to explain if you don't know how electronics work but I would say no you will not have a problem unless you go deep sea diving with your Angel. And if you really want to get techy anything on a board will not get effected by moisture/water as long as it's not powered up. Just as long as you let it dry out and actually clean the board down from any corrosion. That is what kills most electronics is being powerd up and then water (being a conductor) will then short out components.
Unless it's totaly purified/filtered water then technically it will not conduct electricity.
And also it is not votage that kills or shocks you it amperage. So that being said your Angel(minimal current draw) in a bath tub will not kill you but your moms blow dryer(plugged into the wall) will kill you. So anyone trying to say you will get shocked by a Electro gun in the rain is a Huge Myth.

Furthermore, all electronic components in the Angel are moisture-proof to IP65, and all mechanical components are completely enclosed, leading the Angel to be one of the best choices to use in the rain.

My guess is, they designed em like that due to all the rain the brits get.

Does anyone have any details on how long a 9V will last. How many shots?
Well if you go by what WDP said in that it is 20% more efficeint than current boards that run off a 9 volt. WAS/blah blah boards I read were good for 100,000 shots off a 9 volt so the 05 Speed would then be good for appx 120,000 shots.

/me coughs uncomfortably. Ever seen a power graph from an alkaline battery?
Who knows, though? WDP may have perfected pulling power off of a 9V, just as they perfected so many things before. Just replace the battery as soon as the lights in the grip tell you to. :)

I have always loved the fact of the rechargable battery, but honestly, the 9volt makes more sense. Much easier for at tourneys(all freaking day long ones). Dont have to worry about chargin it, or having enough places for people to charge their guns, just throw a 9.6volt PowerEx in there, have a spare one ready(and the charger of course) when one gets low, throw the fresh one in and plug the other in. Simple as that. Trying to sell my Force Fly to get one as we speak.

So now the question beckons... what's has happened to the cavity that the rechargable battery used to occupy in the gun, or is it now used as an additional gas gallery? The change of battery styles will yield a degree of weight savings but will it (the 9v) last anywhere near as long as the rechargable?

Yeah, most other guns use 9v so if you dont have any at least there is a chance you can get one from a friend.

I honestly wouldn't put more than 10-12 cases through my marker off a single 9v akaline battery. However, it's worth some experimenting over the long haul as far as battery life.
Sure the marker will still shoot with a semi-good 9v but if you don't go the root of rechargable, I'd recommend using "high-speed" batteries like E2s.

The cavity is empty, hollow, and completely unused.

Hey Speedy in Blue, whats the differance in having a "9.6V Power Ex and extra battery (and charger of course)" over a single charger to bring and no extra battery to carry? Also, I barely ever have to charge the battery for my A4Fly. Maybe if people knew how to cycle batteries better they wouldn't have as many problems with their batteries.

He hasn't been to any tourneys before.
My team was always looking for places selling 9 volts at tourneys. Until we bought the new powerex 9 volt batteries. They run hotter and long AS long as alkalines. Don't try to tell me they don't, I have been using them since Feb and I know! I am going to buy my speed from Eric at Angelparts and get one of the new four bank chargers and 2 9volts with it (my team has a 10 bank that we all share) so that I can charge as needed. If WDP techs are selling them, they must be good!
