View Full Version : What is the story with the Macro connector to the Reg?

Is this the only connector you can use? Can you get that straight Macro line connector off the reg or did they give you a round reg so that you cannot get a hold of anything and then you need to mare the crap out of your 1000 dollar marker to get the danged thing off?

Look inside the fitting and you will notice its hex'd shape for a allen key.

always examine your parts fully before installation, saves time, old RC/commonsense tip

I understand this. But if it is a rounded cap - you can grab that fitting all you want - but you will mare the crap out of the rounded peice without anything to hold on to.

Just wrap it in some rubber or something and put it in a vice. Make sure the rubber is thick so you can tighten it good without it slipping. Thats what i always do when i need to get something out of something thats round and is stuck together good.

Actually, when I went to Pro Paintball in Victor they were going to change that fitting over to my new CP reg but they actually couldn't get the fitting off the mini reg! They are a pain in the ass!

Exactly. Not that this is a HUGE Issue - but I wish that they would have flattened a portion of it to allow for a wrench hold. - or just do like EVERYONE else and leave the fittings off!

now now read the manual the allen fitting is inside the fitting so you dont mar the finish.look in the hole and you will see the spot for the allen key.

I don't think getting the bottom part of the reg off is the issue Ken. It sounds like they want to take the macro connector off the bottom of the regulator itself, but unlike the previous miniregs there aren't any wrench flats to allow you to grab the reg and hold it while loosening the fitting with the allen wrench in the bottom.

gx3man is getting to what I wanted to know I read the manual and have looked at pics and I want to run SS hose from the bottom of the reg to a Unimount. I like Macro but I think SS is more foolproof. There is a way to get parts separated and I think when I order my '05 I'll look at it up close myself to determine the most logical method of macro fitting removal.

If it's anything like the fittings on the older miniregs I've seen they probably loctited the crap out of it. Application of some heat should break the loctite loose, then lock the bottom of the reg in a vise (using rubber so you don't scratch it) and give the allen wrench a twist. Hopefully that will do it. Even doing all of this though, I still almost rounded out the allen hole in the fitting on my A4 before it came loose. Make sure you have an allen wrench that fits snugly.

it doesnt move now so the reg doesnt need to be held when turning the fitting.remember its now a "cartridge" rather than a trheaded reg.

Ever hear of opposing forces? If it requires that much energy (force) toremove the fitting from the bottom of the cartridge, then wouldn't it make sense to apply some force in the opposite direction of fitting removal (counter-clockwise or anti-clockwise for you Brits) so as to not snap the cartridge from the gun? Just seems to me that you would take the extra precaution since your spending your hard earned dolla' on a nice gat.
Be careful,

I still don't get it.
If the bottom cap is threaded how is it when you attempt to unscrew the macro fitting that you don't simply unthread the bottom cap from the reg?

Answered my own question. There is a 10 MM wrech position on the under side of the reg cap. This allows you a good hold to remove the fitting - which was NOT loctited.
I stand corrected and should be remanded for my stupidity - does anyone care to do the honors?
