My new A4 has three differant serial numbers displayed. Which is correct? My frame has a four digit number engraved on it, the electronic id is 5 digits, and the box has six. The last four digits on all three are the same, if that makes sense.

Dunno about the box, but the first digit of the EID is just a series indicator. Your body serial # is the definitive serial number when taken together with the body type. Your EID just encodes both the body type # and the body serial # into a single, convenient number.

thanks for the info. Hey Jouster, just noticed your location. I did a few years at JMU back in the late 80's. You've a great hometown.

Yeh, that sounded alot worse than I meant it. Nothing against JMU or harrisonburg, just studying in general. And yes the girls were oh so hot then, and probably are better today. Your location in your title immediatley brought to mind a few that have managed to plant themselves in my beer depleted memory for over 15 yrs. Thats hot.
