Ok listen. Im stumped on this one.
I was playing at a field way back when, and the gun told me oil service was reccomended. I realized its been about 6000 shots since ive oiled the ram, so ill do that...
I start to take the gun apart, i get the back plate off, blah blah blah, and then i start to unscrew the ram (i had 2 allen wrenches back then, no ram tool).
All of a sudden, the ram pops out a 1/4 inch and a LOOUD train whistle "WOOOOO!!!" sound came out. THE AIR WAS ON! ARRGH!!!
So...after i punished myself i bit :wall:, i thought about it for awhile, and asked myself, "why was there air in that part of the gun?!?"
I dont know the answer. I know its normal, but, i mean, when you open the breech you can look in and SEE that area. No air. So is there air IN the ram? If there is, what route does it take to GET to the ram?
thx,
AngelBoi

Yes, there's air inside the ram, or at least in the front part of it when the gun is sitting waiting to be fired. If you look at the ram you'll see two sets of holes, three toward the front and three toward the back. When teh gun is at rest the solenoid is directing the air from the lpr to the front part of the ram which holds the hammer backwards. When the gun is fired the solenoid switches and redirects the air to the back, pushing the ram shaft and hammer forward. When you unscrewed the ram it held the air until the o-rings on the ram lost their seal and vented the air out of whatever path was handy.

I know...
But if you look, my solenoid has sum scratch marks on its little black thing behind the bolt. So does it JUST power the ram? I always thought it just pushed the bolt...but then again, its cuz sum kid said so last week (-3
So the LPR accually goes 2 directions....i got it now....ill have to take apart the gun and use a flashlight to see what ur talking about.

The solenoid controls the air that powers the ram, which pushes the hammer, which is linked to the bolt. Not sure what you mean by little black thing, unless you mean that plug that divides the rotobreach from the solenoid chamber.

yes im talking about that.
I see some circular scratches on it...

Read How Your Angel Works (http://www.AngelFAQ.com/Angel.html).
The solenoid causes the bolt to move, but it's certainly not a direct interaction; it redirects LPR air to the ram, which moves the hammer, which moves the bolt. The "black thing" of which you speak is just a plug for the back of the breech.

thx. The marks must just be from the bolt rebounding on it...

It might be alittle off topic, but y is there a 14-ways valve? 14 way meaning wat??? y 14?

As of the V6, the number of combinations of ways that air can move through the solenoid is fourteen.

ooo ok thanks Jouster! Also that means great air efficeny?

Er... no. It was essentially a marketing gimmick to name it that.
That said, Angels are air-efficient, and were, as of the V6/LED, waaaaaaay more air-efficient than their only real competition in the electropneumatic realm, the Shocker. Today, Angels are amongst the top tier in terms of air efficiency, and Shockers are still inefficient as anything. Go figure.
This has gotten off-topic, though. Angelboi, are you clear on why the air came out?

woah woah hold on...your saying one thing on this forum and a whole different thing on another. i brought up the fact that the way most people are lowering thier pressure is by sticking a huge volumizer on the front, then wondering why thier efficiency goes to crap. now, most EDUCATED people will agree that LP is mostly hype. i specifically said it had it's good points, but they are blown wayyyyyyy out of porportion when it comes to marketing a low pressure gun...and are commonly used as poor arguments against anything that apposes LP (as you have proved to me through PM's).
angels do compete to a certain extent with other bolt-over hammer electropneumatic markers. For instance take the impulse, i need not explain that. However they do fall short of some other similar markers, even when properly set up. The main one i brought up was the cyborg, being that it get's approximately 2500 shots off a 68/4500 when properly tuned at 200psi....you really cant say that about the A4 and fly (and if you can, please contact me). I so believe that Angels are within the top 1/3 as far as efficiency, when properly set up. I can honestly say that in an unbiased, informed opinion. I will not say they are the best, because there not. I wont say there the worst, because there not! I will say that the speed in particular is extremely well priced for the performance it delivers, whereas the fly is as much as twice the price and obvioulsy doesnt deliver double the mechanical performance...which is one reason i recommend it before the new "superguns" that are the same mechanical system with a 30 cent pair of an IR emitter and reciever, and $150 of board (R&D included).
now, i really dont appreciate your lies and your bending of the truth. i'm going to ask you respectfully to stop, and hope that you dont lose what little respect i have for you. I'm not going to involve this forum any further over such a matter like this, and you shouldnt either. I seriously suggest you think about what you are posting before you do so...it will keep you out of a lot of trouble  .

Mamba I have to agree with u. Angels are air efficent but defently not at the top... I would say angels are good for there speed and not there efficentecy. The are a low pressure gun but they rnt as low pressure as, for example a impulse. I still think over all an Angel is the best buy. They may be expensive but there worth it in the long run after fine tuning.

You wanna talk about an inefficient gun...my friends impulse is about as inefficient as my DM4

Y u always gotta trash everyone? Did I do anything to u? Say anything to u? I cant say I have? Wats with ur little comment? "throws baseball at puckmaster" Wat exactly do u mean by that? If u have something to say, say it.
Some impules suck, I just think, and this is wat I personaly think that if an impulse is set up right they are very air efficent. Not all imps r gunna be air efficent. Some may blow.

I just think its funny that you are comparing a Impulses pneumatic system to a Angel.

Im chill, I took no affence to any of ur comments, I wasnt comparing but simply stating that I believe that a finned tuned Impulse has better effiencey than an Angel. I guess I was just unclear do to ur statements that are meant to be funny. Sry bout that, no hard feelings.

All I have to say is that I have an Impulse. And its extremely air efficient and its very constant. I get about 6 hoppers per my 68/4500 maxy.
Maybe thats bad, but damn, thats good enough for me.

If you buy a stock impluse for say $450, you end up spending another $500 in upgrades to make it a really great gun. As opposed to say an Angel Speed which is like $850 and is ready to rip right out of the box.
[Source]
09-06-2004, 07:46 PM
Nope, you end up putting about $100-$200 into a stock Impulse. I am an Impulse Tech (not officially), and I can name all of the parts and their prices via a website and then add them up and it will be cheaper than a new Angel.
After seeing what my friend did today, I have a new respect for the Angel (☼☼☼☼ing rips like no tomorrow), but my Impulse rips also, not as fast, but fast enough.
You can buy an Impulse new for $450 + $200 (at most) upgrades, and you will still be able to rip hardcore.
But, I will agree with you, the Impulse and Angel, are completely different operating guns. You can't compare them at all. 3-way vs. 14-way. :pisss:

U can look at it like that..... but it really depends on wat ur lookin for, Angels are defently faster than Impulses not matter wat u do. If ur lookin for Air effiency then an Impulse will def bet a Angel. Over all I still think that an Angel is better than an Imp, but on the topic of Air Effency, if u took an angel worth 850 and an imp worth 850 in air efficeney I THINK that an imp would perform better! In speed an Angel would blow it away. This is just my personal thought on the issue.
