Ok so I was playing this weekend and I was standing around a bunch of other guys with lcd's and ir3 and when they shot it was quiet, but when I shot it was considerably louder. So im wondering how can I quiet my ir3 down. Im currently using a 12" freak with the teardrop front shooting quality paint. My dwell is set at 14 and my low pressure reg is whatever factory is on a dark ir3. Also Im using a A4 Fly board. Im thinking its the freak barrel thats making my marker so loud or is a dwell of 14 on the fly board not the same as a dwell of 14 on the ir3 board?

Thanks
Nate :puzzled:

Dwell on the two boards should be identical. But what you want for dwell isn't a setting off the net; you want to figure out the optimum dwell for your particular gun.

One note--do you still have the original Infinity barrel? If you do, try out that barrel as a way of figuring out whether the Freak is what is making your gun so loud. Or just trade barrels (and paint) with one of your friends for a game.

A final thought--could it just be that you're ripping up the field that much faster with that Fly board? ;)

my 10inch teardrop freak is reasonably loud on my ir3. I also run 14 dwell. Just as a note though, your lpr still may not be running the correct pressure unless it has been checked recently. It can vary over time.

Well I did jump from 13 bps to 24bps, and I havn't really used the infinty barrel much so I'll give it a try. About how low should I be looking at getting my LPR reg down to with stock internals? How will this run with the dwell turned down to say 11?

With stock factory settings and your gun shooting an easy 24 bps at a dwell of 11 your going to have better luck throwing the paint at people when you get higher then 13. Ive had good luck running my IR3 with an LPR of 80 psi, I do use a volumizer though and aside from people saying it doesnt do anything it does a little bit. Ive also changed my valve spring so now im running my lpr at 60 and my dwell at 12, ive got a thread on how I did it take a look if your interested. It most definetley quiets the gun down, and the kick isnt anywhere near as bad.

Yeah thats what I figured. I think i'll wait and get a speed ram, and lpr valve first.
