View Full Version : Lighter weight hammers
Being still unsatisfied with the amount of "kick" the Fly has, I am still searching for a way to reduce it to a level to which others have come to.
Has anyone experimented with machineing the hammer (taking off some of the weight) and lightening up the exhaust spring? I have tried lowering the LPR as low as it will go until ROF starts to suffer. I can get the ram to move so slow that you can fell the weight shift.
Excuse if this has been touched already :moon: And this would apply to out-of-warranty guns (of course).

Pretty much all you can do is get a lighter Valve Spring. Lightening up the Hammer will only result in having to use a higher LPR pressure. If you get a lighter Vavle Spring you should be able to get the LPR alot lower.
But, be very careful and take your time when doing this.
Also, I wouldn't mess with the weight of the Hammer...

Just wait for the Evolve Newton Kit.

The exhaust valve spring is there only to close and seat the valve, it has nothing to do with kick. (Angels aren't autocockers)
However, lightening the hammer *would* allow it to change direction easier, but lowering the (LPR) pressure would only affect the pressure on the ball. The effect on the hammer would be negligable. (The air passages are tiny)

That is what I was looking for, I think it would be best to use something that someone else already has tested :again:
A 10 gram hammer is a far cry from 35 grams isn't it! I was thinking of taking off maybe 15 grams. They must be using a pretty unique exhaust valve that is able to close with such a "light" blow from a <10 gram hammer. I can imagine how nice it will be to use <40 psig LPR and still get high rates of fire.
Does anyone know if the Force Fly uses a different hammer?

I think they only use a different Valve...

evolve is also coming out with a new exhaust valve with a much larger opening, and a lighter spring. i also thing there making u able to adjust the tension of the spring thru the volumizer some how but im not 100% sure about that.
I guess we'll have to wait now, I haven't found anything further on it (pics, price, etc.)

here's some pics of the new hammer types, they're using some sort of platic, maybe similar to the nylatron strikers they use for reducing kick in spyders
:) sounds pretty neath to me
thanks for the link, I didn't see it when I was scrolling yesterday.
