View Full Version : Used my A4 today, pinching like mad!

I just bought a rasta A4. Don't get me wrong, I love the gun. The air efficiency isn't great, it will get a little better once I break it in and retune it I'm sure. It's pretty fast and accurate, and very light. :)
My problem is I just keep pinching paint. It's not breaks, cause it's in the breach, the bolt, the feedneck, etc. It isn't chops, there is no single piece of shell ANYWHERE. I am using a reloader B. Tried different speed settings too.
It does seem to occur on higher rates of fire. I tried semi 2 and semi 3 with the same results. Changed barrels, upped the dwell time, still kept happening.
Doesn't seem to me like my sensi is working all that well. It passes the test at very shallow angles. Not sure what to do.
I do plan to get the eyes, but I'm open to other suggestions that may help. I've been reading a lot of threads from other people that have similar problems, I'm having a lack of faith in fixing this without spending $300.

Did you make sure that your ram was properly adjusted? Also, what kind of loader are you using?

The ram seems just a SMIDGE too far back, it doesn't make a very good click when I put the bolt back in. I'm using a reloader B.

Um, any help? I don't mean to "up" the thread.

pinching paint would stick the bolt forward.are u blowing up paint on the face of the bolt? the lpr might need to be checked as well as you are saying its brand new what air sys are u using so i can help

Ahh, thank you for responding.
When I say pinching, I think the bolt is actually knicking the very bottom of the ball above the one in the breach. But I suppose that should eventually give me a bit of shell.
There is a little bit of paint on the bolt, but very little. I'm using a macdev conquest, it's set a little over 450psi. I don't know what my LPR pressure is, it's just whatever it was out of the box. If it were too high, could it cause it to impact the paint too hard and break it a little?

YES
thats a huge possibility. I think ur pressure is breaking it. Lower ur output to 390-400. 450's pushing it. Put 1 shim in the LPR. make ur Minired output 210.
That should fix it right up.

Okay, I will lower the conquests pressure right away to 400psi. Can anyone else verify the settings? I'm not using a volumizer at the moment since I was unable to adjust the LPR pressure (was told by a buddy that would be the best way to go).

Well, sounds like the one person who did try your settings had shootdown.
I might try Kens settings for the long volumizer. Those sound good, but it's a little hard to gauge the LPR pressure without an actual gauge. :)

hehe
true, that why you get a tool kit (-3
Ur LPR will be at ~55

Alright, I will get a tool kit. Any more speculation as to what the paint breaking problem might be?
