Hey guys
I just got vegas 4.0 and I love it. Its one of the best video editing programs that I have used. Well any of you guys out there played with this program, what Im trying to do is get some sound tracks from a cd I have to mix with a movie clip of paintball. Another thing; how do I copy music from a cd to my computer? for some reason its not working for me. Thanks.

Any DAE software will work; check out Tucows (http://www.tucows.com) for some good shareware and freeware ones.

If you're using windows. Open up windows media player, pop in your CD.

Then there should be a tab on the left hand side that says "Copy Media from CD or Device" Click that and on the top right corner hit copy.

It should copy all your songs into a folder in your "My Music" folder.

And I'm pretty sure in Vegas there is a menu or something to put music in, there is for VideoMach and Premier atleast.

Try this, it's free and easy to use. It converts whatever forms of music to any form you choose. I've been using it for a few years and like it better than the other programs.

even wavs?

If it does convert to wavs you're my hero.

MusicMatch may be more than you need, and it installs a bunch of spyware (or, at least, it used to), and it nags you to register and upgrade and whatnot.

Try this freeware (http://tucows.com/preview/305350.html).

Make that two. Its an awsome program. Hey I have premiere 6.5, when I installed it and opened it, it asked me if I wanted to use the advanced version or the one that was for beginners. I clicked the beginners options, but now when I open premiers again it doesnt ask me anymore, do any of you know how to bring that window back up.

i believe there is a way to reset the default prefences like in photoshop. I think its CRTL ALT and SHIFT then you click the icon for premiere.

Hey Kevie, I got it thanks, I looked in the readme file and found what it said to get it back to default. This is what it said.

HOW DO I RESET PREMIERE’S DEFAULT SETTINGS?
To reset Premiere to its default settings hold the Control + Shift keys while launching Premiere or delete the Prem60.prf file found in the Premiere folder.

Well, the plan is to start organizing our team, and video tape our games like they do for 300fps and all these paintball dvd's out there; mix in video with some backround music with some effects, the quality of the vids will be pretty good, I got an archos av300 with a 3.3 mega pixel camcorder which records with good quality. And the funniest thing is that I got about 8 msn explorer installation cd cases which I might use to put these vids with there own custom logo on the cover of the case. I know its not going to have all the great angles like the pro vids but its good project I guess.

just plan out how you want the overall vid to look then kind of story board something in your head and since your using a video editing software dont stop the camera from rolling casue you never no whats going to happen, that way you have stuff to use in between shots. The most annoying thing to me is never seeing where the person is shooting at so keep that in mind when you set up your camera.

I'd use Premier If i were you, I myself don't have experience with Vegas 4.0 But I have used Premier and it's very professional

I guess I'll just have to learn it, Its not that complicated. When I started it up I chose the more expereined option, is it any harder than the one that is not experienced; Im guessing one has more options than the other. KEVIE I was thinking the same thing, seeing where the person is shooting is going to have to be planned so I have the right angle where I wont get SHOT!!! The first few videos will be about our guns being test fired for the first time.

cool good start the thing about experienced and beginner i think is the way the timeline palette is setup(this is based on 6.0) so im not sure if its the same but beginner i think the A/B track is all on one line of video so you overlap clips and transitions all on one track, experienced i would guess the A/B track is still on one track but there is a seperate A and B track with a Transition Track in between the two. I took a class on how to use Premiere but that was awhile ago and now im taking classes on Photoshop so i kinda forgot how premiere works your best bet is to go to a book store and get Any and all books that have to do with Premiere thats how i initially learned how to use Premiere then when i took the class everything became clear and easy to do The book i used was one of Adobe's classroom in a Book for Premiere worked great for me.
