Sad part is that what they say is true, they just put it in a way that brings out the most negative aspect of the sport. Then again, next time somebody beats someone to death with a baseball bat, lets ban that sport everywhere.

Retaliation and more injuries is not the answer. Respectable, aware, responsible paintball players playing at designated fields and wearing the appropriate safety gear along with informing others that are just beginning to play how to be safe, that is the only way to fix the problem. As the sport grows, these acts of stupidity will detach themselves from the whole of the sport and people will realize that just as someone said about the baseball bat, that that is not part of the game. The only stat that they left out was now many of the injuries were caused by misuse, and the fact that very few accidents occur at paintball designated fields and arenas. My cousins play in the woods at their cabin, and it bugs the crap out of me because they don't even have a chrono. I made sure that they know the importance of safety, and they are now buying one. If we as paintball enthusiasts keep playing and make the experience as safe as possible for ourselves and those around us, the bad publicity will fade away. People will start to realise that the people shooting pedestrians are not paintball players, but just stupid people that would find a way to hurt people and be hood rats with whatever tool they posess.

That rant puts you in the same catagory as them. Lowering yourself to their level isn't the answer.

I don't know if I view that report as bad for the sport of paintball because it basically just points out the facts that paintball guns can be dangerous if not used correctly. Which is not unlike other things such as real firearms or bb guns. If anything it could make people think twice about riding around and shooting people as a joke. I guess my opinion comes from an experience I had about 13 years ago when a bunch of guys were throwing rocks and eggs at my parents house so me and my cousin loaded up our pump guns and stepped outside. It was dark and my cousin hit one guy in the eye. He was lucky and was only hit in the corner of his eye but he still wore a patch for a couple of months after. The incident was a learning experience for both of us and may not have ever happened had we seen a video like this before that night. Just my two cents.

i dont know why they say paintballing/ballers are bad, theyre using the equipment in a way its not supposed to be used. every time someone gets beat to death by a bat they dont say how dangerous baseball is and that its a bad sport, and everytime someone is stabbed by a knife they dont say cooking is dangerous and bad.

Man thats the kinda BS that gives us all a bad name. I think I'll drop a line to I.E. and set them straight on how us RESPONSIBLE players feel about the way they portray us!! Hey, I think we should all drop them a line. :mt:
Don't you people know by now that what the media does is exactally what you just saw on that video. They exploit the bad side of an issue with very little backround checking and getting both sides of the story. Well at least crappy shows like that do this all the time. And lashing out on a forum board about your anger will do nothing. If you want to make a difference then E-mail or contact them and voice your opinion. Most the time these reporters only go on what they have been told which is usually one sided. 100 people a month go the hospital for paintball injuries??? Where did they get that stat? Bet they can't tell you or let alone verify it. Inside Edition is just a Supermarket Tabloid that's on the television and has no merit.

Ok, here is what I sent to Inside Edition "questions and comments on recent shows". DynastySSS and JTp8ntballer hope you dont mind but I used your names in it also. Also the address is "IEMAIL@KINGWORLD.COM"
Dear Inside Edition,
I would like to comment on your July 22nd broadcast on Paintball Injuries. I say this on behalf of every responsible male, female and our youths who passionately plays the sport of paintball, that these random acts of violence upsets us just as much if not more than rest of America. We being the players know how dangerous this sport can be and that is why everytime you hear anyone who plays paintball speaking, they are constantly preaching the aspects of safety. At the fields I play at, if one person is caught removing their goggles while on field or playing irresponsibly, they are banned from playing the rest of the day. Yes, safety is our main concern. I know 14 year old players that are more mature and repsonsible than alot of adults who play this sport.
Lets take for instance, two teenagers that I know that go by the name of DynastySSS from Austin TX and JTp8ntballer from Southern California. If you would like I can get you their real names and just maybe you could sit down for an interview with them and get their aspect of safety from a youths point of view. Believe it or not, they may just blow your mind on how mature and responsible they are of the sport and how they feel about the random acts of violence.
I feel that every time a major television show does a story on paintball, they are always portraying the negative aspects of it. How about actually going to some fields or a Pro-Circuit tournement and actually doing some research instead of getting a one-sided negative aspect of the sport and doing an outstanding show on that. PROMOTE THE SAFETY OF PAINTBALL! Heck, do a special about the different safety equipment available out there and how important safety is on a positive side. Do not just have a 10 second clip that shows people going crazy on a field or arena. Show the comradery, the safety, the teamwork and most importantly, THE LOVE AND SAFETY THAT TRUE PAINTBALLERS HAVE FOR THIS GREAT SPORT!
Very Respectfully,

  very nice very nice thank you for takeing the time to write that...now maybe they can show real footage on their show instead of a couple of bs events..thanks again
They will never air the good aspects of anything. It's the nature of shows like this or any other informative show. Ever read the book "Gimme A Break" by John Stossel? He tells it best in there. Shows will never air the good side of anything because thats not captivating. Like to say "X million people play organized paintball every weekend without injury" is not near as attention grabbing as "Elerdrly woman looses an eye by a teenage toting a paintball machine gun and this kind of maliciousness happens every weekend". See not interesting in the least bit but that's what television does.

Wishfull thinking but I seriously doubt they will or they will do a little 5 second apology at the end of the show "About our report on paintball accidents last week.... millions play it every weekend without getting hurt".

Pleaze guys do not let a meaningless show like Inside Edition scare you to think they are going to sway the decisions of millions of viewers, and if anyone that watches that show and believes what they see, that person does not belong on our fields to begin with. The people that play do a great job at promoting our sport by telling there friends about how they had the best time over the weekend, Or how the Lakers said part of the reason they made it that far was because of team comradery(?) being boosted in Hawaii from playing paintball. Thats what i have to say about that Smart Parts should sue Inside Edition for showing their guns without consent.(haha)

hep.. i know we wont get any more than that but still its good that some one took the time to do that. i know that shows like that aim twoards negitivity... but still im tired of the media doing stuff like this. but hey people get exposed to the good side as well from OLN like yesterday and FOX SPORTS NET and the super7.
Oh I wasn't saying that it was a bad idea to write them (actually a good idea) just will fall on deaf ears. But at least they are aware of our point of view.

I should rephrase my feelings toward that footage as not being bad publicity because it is. I do feel that if a parent was contemplating buying their teenager a paintgun then that media coverage could make them more aware of the dangers and sit their kid down and explain that paintguns aren't a toy. I feel bad for that girl cause she was minding her own business and her life changed because of one kids stupidity. I wonder if that kid even felt remorse for what he did.

I seriously doubt they felt any remorse. THey are just a couple of punk ass kids that dont care what they do or cause someone. Also on the point of parents explaining the dangers of paintball, you couldnt be more right! My 2 boys, 9 and 7 play as much as I do. They know for a fact that if they take their goggles off, point the marker at someone when not playing, over shooting someone or throwing a fit on the field that its going to get their ass's BEAT!! They know the safety of the game like the back of their hands cause I am constantly craming it down their throats.
As for I.E. resonding, they have not as I figured they would, they are just another tabloid tv show that feeds off the negativity of the world.

The only thing I think that video would cause is for some parents to get the wrong idea about paintball. I think enough people know about paintball now to know that isn't how its played. Everywhere I go and start talking about paintball i meet someone who plays or used to play and most other people have heard about it.
