View Full Version : Breech problem

I came across a steal of a deal for a 2k1 lcd, the boards bad and the breech is supposedly stuck, like not the ram adjustment, bolt being stuck forward etc etc.
They seem to think the breech is sealed shut (possible body warp or something), is this at all possible, has it happened before, and if this were the case, MT's could you possibly fix something like this?
and yes I did search I was unable find something that was close to this topic... Thanks for the input.

I doubt it's body warp, I don't think that could happen. They could have tightened down the set screws for the breech rods too tight, ot maybe the rods just rusted underneath or something. Just an idea.

the breech rob could be stuck or ram adjusted too far in... that is what causes the bolt to be stuck

Yeah it could be the ram, rod, or even the bolt just being forward from not enough air being able to push it back and a simple straight shot can push it back.

if the bolt was 'stuck' forward and pushing it back was all that was necessary I'd venture to say that the owner would know this, or would have tried it. I don't see them being that dumb as to say it's 'stuck' when it's something like that.
If the breech really is 'stuck' and you can not open it even by adjusting the ram and loosening the pivot rods then prying on it, I would suggest sending it to someone like Russ or any of the Techs. They can take care of "breaking" it free, and then align it properly as well.

The kid im buying it from has told me he tried pushing the bolt back and opening, im assuming the rods that hold the breech on are rusted or tightened down to far. Do you have any idea how much this would cost to have repaired if it was indeed a stuck breech? and Id prolly bring it ken, hes close.

it's likely that the pivot rods are a little rusted....this is a fairly simple fix with a little pentrating oil.
