I just got an angel speed and am very satisfied with it. The only thing I've had to do was swap the reg out for an intimidator reg because the angel reg velocity screw was stuck and refused to come out. Right now, however, the gun is using way too much gas(I think) for each shot, because I can see smoke coming out of the barrel. What are the steps to making it use less gas? Sorry if my terminology sucks, I really am a newb when it comes to paintball.

are you using compressed air? Also what was the weather like that day?

Weather was hot, and I'm using nitrogen.

what are your settings? dwell, lpr, input pressure?

Also, with the angel reg, did you ever allow it to break in. If you didn't put 5000 or more shots for it that would result in bad consitancy.

I found out that my LPR is only set at 40. I don't have anymore shims to add to the stack, so I am going to go to my pb shop tomorrow to see if they have any.

ok, the problem was that my dwell was set too low. I now have another problem though. The exhaust will leak if the velocity is set too low. If I crank the velocity up, I don't have this problem but obviously I can't play on any fields with a velocity so high. I'm thinking I need to add shims to the LPR so more pressure will go to the exhaust, so it will seal. The stem I put in it is brand new. Are there any other suggestions?

40 is pretty low, 60-65 lpr, and 16-17 dwell should be a good starting point. fine tune from there.

lpr @ 40 psi is too low for the speed. you're gonna get shootdown and/or fsdo.
as for the valve not closing, do you have the valve spring seated correctly? you may want to lube the ram too.
correct your lpr first.
