I was wondering if anyone has experienced the dust finish getting stained by paint. I know a guy and bought two dye cockers in a dust finish and they both got stained. I was wondering because I really like the silver dust finish on the fly ir3's but if it stains, i won't buy it. So did that guy just get two bad dust jobs, or does it really stain?

yeah, it probably was a bad batch of anno, i have never heard of that happening.

If it was anno'd improperly the pores in the aluminium may not have been completely sealed, allowing paint to get into them. If your friend wanted to fix the problem all he'd have to do is dip his gun in boiling water, it might lighten the color but it'd seal off the finish.

I have a pewter dust dark ir3 and it does have a few green stains from paint. It seems that if you leave paint on the gun for any length of time that it tends to stain. You just have to make sure that you wipe all paint off the gun between games (something you should do anyway). Bottom line, if you like the dust finish, get it. Just be sure to wipe off any excess paint during the day and clean it thoroughly when you get home. If you do this, it will be fine.

I think it depends on the anno, I have a pewter/black dust IR3, and the dust anno is pretty smooth and there are no stains on my gun. My girl has a silver dust impulse and the anno on that is rougher, and her gun stain very easily.

/me watches as everyone scrapes off their dust finish and smokes it.
Which one looked better in your opinion?

hahaha, i forgot to mention to take all the internals out BEFORE putting it in the molten hot water.
I know the dye silver dust cockers had a problem with staining. I dont know if its all dust or just dye's cockers.
