I already have a collection of HP tanks along with some regulators so here are some setups I am thinking of to avoid buying another LP tank to feed the minireg.

Setup A:

A4, CP reg (200 - 500 psi adjustable) , HP tank (850 psi).

Setup B:

A4, CP reg (200 - 500 psi adjustable), PMI THOR reg (adjustable output), HP tank (850 psi)

Setup C:

A4, Mini reg (stock), PMI THOR reg (adjsutable output), HP tank (850 psi)

Setup D:

A4, Mini reg (modded), HP tank (850 psi)

I know the mini reg is designed to have 300-450 psi input so other than doing the mini reg mod those are the options I am considering. My goal is to be able to use many of the settings posted here even though I will be using a HP tank. So far I have run "setup A" and rather disappointed with the efficiency and kick.

I ran "setup a" with the following settings:

dwell 14
tr 14
CP reg ~250 psi
lpr 82 psi (stock)
no volumizers
chrono's at 285 consistantly +/- 4bps

I am leaning towards options A & C to keep things simple. But I am not sure that these regulators can perform that well taking 850 psi input down to 200-300 psi output.

However I have also heard that option B, 3+ regulators inline is a NO NO....

Now mind you I already own all these parts so please don't flame me to go buy a LP tank. I am just trying to see what I can do with what I have....

Thanks,
Jeff

Everything but B would work ok.

I personally would go with D, but if A is working, "if it aint broke dont fix it".

Vantage_TeS,

My only thing about option D is that I don't like the idea of having to modify something that is the only means of stopping 850psi from going directly into my internals. Call me paranoid, but oh well. Once my tool kit comes next week I will play with lowering the internal pressure and making option A have less kick.

Thanks,
Jeff

Spring stack holds the minireg open. By removing one spring it opens less, therefor letting less air in. Besides the minireg mod was posted by none other then the Master Tech Ken Crane. I daresay that if it would cause potential damage to your gun he would not tell you to do it.
