View Full Version : A4 Fly Solenoid not clicking

I have read through the previous posts about solenoids not working, but this seems different.
I bent the leaf spring to loosen the pull. I reassembled and it shot 4 times (solenoid clicking)...then it stopped. I readjusted the leaf spring to provide more travel again, but still nothing. I checked all the wires and there are no cuts or disconnections. The shot counter reads that the trigger is being pulled, but the solenoid is not clicking.
How do I check the solenoid on an A4 fly?
Any ideas what the problem could be?
Does bending the leaf spring void the warranty?
Thanks for the help

Take the backplate off it should allow access to an orange button. Push this button (manual override on the noid). If it fires you are ok.

you need to verify that you haven't cut a wire between the plug and the solenoid. I've seen this happen and it causes the solenoid to stop operating properly. Also check to make sure the wires are not pulled from the solenoid body itself.

all that's going to do is check the mechanical operation, it will not verify that the electrical part of it is working, which is where it sounds like the problem is

Edit: nevermind, i didnt read the whole post.

How do I check the solenoid on an A4 fly?

Wouldn't pushing the button be checking the noid?

mechanically....not electronically

Whats the difference?

if the wires cut there wont be anyway to tell that by hitting the button, thats just going to check if the solenoid itself is working not if everything leading up to it in the process is.

So is there a way to check electronically?

outside of plugging it in, not exactly... It needs the battery juice to test itself electronically and that would be voided out if a wire has been damaged.

in my absence I have been covered for...thank you...

so as I stated in my first post...check the wires;)

I do not see any orange button on the solenoid. The entire thing is black with the lead wires going inside the front. I know the older angels had the orange button, but this does not seem to have any external button.

First and formost make SURE your battery is FULLY charged. Low voltage may be a problem. If it is fully charged, here is how you check you solenoid.

1>Open your grip and CAREFULLY remove your solinoid wire and power wire from your board.

2>seperate your angel grip from the top (make sure you de-gas first!!)

3>Inspect both sets of wires coming out of the bottom of the "top" part of the angel for any pinches, frays, or cuts.

4>remove the back plate (becareful of the spring)

5>remove the Sliding solinoid cover.
you should now be able to see the whole solinod wire form tip to tip (inspect).
Check the connections on top of the solenoid. replace the Slide cover makeing sure the Solenoid is seated properly

6>If all apears to be in order up to this point, carefully remove the board from it's housing (make sure you disconnect the Eyes wire)

7>Reconnect the power wire and solenoid wire to the board.

8>turn on your marker and put it to live

9>hold the leaf spring in for 2 seconds (bypass EYEs)

The solenoid should click once. You can now carefully simmulate the trigger action with you finger. The solenoid should click with every push of the leaf spring. If it does then it is your trigger adjustment (reasemble and adjust accordingly). If it does not click, AND the shot counter IS rising, then I would say you MAY have a bad solenoid (It should be under warenty). If the solenoid does not click and the shot counter does not increase, make sure the leaf spring is not blocked or clogged with grease. Also make sure that it is not over bent and missing the internal trigger "eye" in the board. If none of this fixes the problem, Re-assemble your Angel in the same order you dis-assembled it and call a MT shop to send it in to have the Pros look at it.
(or you can ask more questions here and continue to try to fix it yourself)

Good LucK, I have had Minor problems with both of my Angels, but once you get them working right ......... watch out!!

what you should do is remove he board nd try and fire the gun with the board out of the frame.if it does not fire, look at the blue and black plastic transmitter/reciever where the trigger arm sldes between.if you bent the trigger leaf too much you may have broken the trans/reciever off.did a little blue plastic thingy fall out ???

good luck
