If there is a difference in sound between the powerlyte and the freak, i can't tell. I haven't had any barrel breaks with it, but i imagine it would clean out about the same as a freak. It is designed a LOT better. The inserts don't shift inside the back piece and are very easy to change out, plus the inserts are longer which means you've got more push behind the ball. In theory, this barrel system should be more gas efficient (according to colin thompson from lapco).
