Hello all
Im very new the angel owners forum, and well I needed some help. Im planning on purchasing an A4 but I dont have much knowledge about them, the last gun I had was an AGD minimag which had no upgrades except the barrel which was all sold when I quit playing. Well Im back and ready start playing again. I got some question about the angel.
1 Are they hard to maintain?
2 What do volumizers serve as ?
3 Will a person with no knowledge about angels have trouble using them?
4 Im a middle and sometimes front player, are they as light as they appear? ( I dont wanna carry a brick like my minimag)
Sorry for all the questions that were probably answered a million times already, but I just needed some clarification. Your replies are appreciated.

Ok for 1 use the search option.
No the A4 isn't heavy at all. The 4s are close to the lightest angel out there right now accpet for the a4 fly.
No they aren't hard to maintain at all just grease them up regularly and if needed send to a tech to get precise settings. Buy a tool kit anyways and read the manual as much as possible.
Volumizers on the A4 lower the pressure alot. New A4s come with 3 volumizers a long 1 medium and small. Longest works the best gets the pressure really low. Be sure to get a nice LP or adjustable tank or if you have HP do the minireg modification.
The gun should be good to go as soon as you get it out of the box just add air and paint and go rip it up. Be sure to shoot lots of paint and air through it before you put a volumizer on it to break it in. Hope this helps.

Cool
Thanks for the help, appreciate it. Oh whats a good but not expensive paint to use with the angels stock barrel, so I can break it in.
Jorge
06-03-2004, 10:59 PM
and maybe use to play at the field

marbalizer....the new JT paint.....anything thats close to .689 cuz thats the stock barrel size. Just try some and find what you like.
Jorge

I got some more questions. Sorry about that, I just want to know as much as I can.
1 How do you find out what size the paint is? and what size bore the barrel is?
2 Im planning on getting a 68ci 4500 psi angel AiR stars and stripes, would that be alright to use the the A4?
3 Oh, how light is the A4, is it lighter than the SPEED?
4 What hopper should I use a Halo b or a evlution ll ?
bobjim
06-06-2004, 10:25 PM
yes AIR works great on all angels...Yes A4 is lighter then the speed by a little bit Halo B for sure ALOT faster then evo 11 with z. The stock barrel is .689 and you just gotta match the paint to it. push a ball in the barrel then if it fits kinda snug then its good if it too lose or to tight then its not the right size.
NATEDOGG
06-06-2004, 10:30 PM
Yeah Halo is faster than a evo II, but many people have had problems w/ halo's and angels, if you want a halo, buy a reloader b from empire. I just got mine and it's freakin awesome. But like stated before, the search option on this forum works really well, try it out sometime. :stooges:

06-06-2004, 10:44 PM
Yeah.. rock the Halo. It's noticably faster.. The thing that keeps putting a smile on my face is when I am ripping so fast that the sound of the shots start to blur together and its starts to sound like you're just squirting paint out of the gun. Magic.
I regularly hit 28 bps with mine.

By the way, you don't need perfect paint to barrel match for open bolt markers, just buy a big bore barrel (when you decide to get a new one). A ultralite are still the best barrels around. And as stated above, the Halo is much better then the Evolution. I have an Evo2, and I just bought a HaloB....so yea.
Jorge
06-07-2004, 08:57 AM
Yeah; because I went to the local paintball shop here in miami and I saw the the balo b and its pretty big for its size, but I'll give it a try before anything. Sorry for not using the search option :pat:

dude angel are the easyist to maintain. all you have to do is grease and lube when the board tells you to and you will be fine.....if you are going to get a a4 i highly recommend that you spend the extra buck and go for a fly....and if you want great servise from some great guys get a MT force four fly with out a doubt the best maker on the market 2day.
bobjim
06-07-2004, 10:55 PM
notice he said Rec-Ball which could mean he just plays woods and isn't into all the tourneys and thats kool so he really doesn't need a fly a nice new A4 would be good even a new speed or even a used IR3 or LCD would be great markers if your goin to be playin alot of woodsball.

hey im just saying its more bang for your buck and a hole lot more reliable than sensi

the oldest and easiest way to check if the paint fits is to put one in the barrel and you should be able to blow it out :) thats what i do and works everytime
Jorge
06-08-2004, 11:51 AM
I see; actually I play speed ball and air ball, no offense to anyone but I hate woods its just a place to sit down and get some shade. Actually the thing is I might start going into to tournys, Ive been talking to a few of my buddies and were going to start a team very soon. The A4 tells you when to grease it up? No way! Well where would be a good place to get a FLY real cheap? Thats the gun I wanted before but Its just a little pricey right now for me. Thanks for all your help; really appreciate it.

FMA is offering A4's for $900 and FLY's are going for $1375-1400 so thats almost $500 xtra bones...........i couldnt pass up the lowered $$, especially when you can get it FLYED later (if you want) for $300 so you're still saving $$ money in the long run........at least my wife fell for it  ..........BUT if you got the $$$ go ahead and grab a FLY or a M/T FLY :bigok: Just make sure you buy it :phone: from one of the sponsers :x: :x:

06-09-2004, 03:38 AM
I was originally getting mine from shorepaintballsupplies.com for 899.00 but I think I might get it from FMA they look more reliable from the looks of it and they offer it for the same amount of cash. Well either way I still dont have all the money to buy it, but when I do I'll make my decision, now where do I get :tiptoe: a job???

Hey I emailed thepaintballstore.com and they told me they dont have any stars and striped angel air. I cant find a single store that sells these things, anyone know where to get them, it would look real nice with my polished red a4.
C.Carles-AOG
06-09-2004, 07:49 PM
They don't make that one anymore and haven't in a while. Sorry.
Jorge
06-09-2004, 08:03 PM
Does anyone know where I can get angel air? I called up mos paintball here in miami and they told me that WDP is making new ones, if so when do they come out. So where do I get them, I really want angel air on my a4
Jorge
06-10-2004, 12:45 PM
I really dont like any of the other tanks sold, I just like the angel air either in silver or black as long as its 68 4500.
- KEVIE -
06-10-2004, 12:52 PM
i felt the same way but i ended up getting an EVIL tank i got a great deal 250 brand new i couldnt pass it up if i were you i would look at some other tanks .....but im not you so good luck anyways
Jorge
06-10-2004, 01:08 PM
I guess I'll wait a while, besides I dont have all the money with me yet.
Jorge
06-11-2004, 10:41 AM
Hey I called up paintballgear and they told me same thing mos paintball shop told me, WDP is probably goin to come out with new tanks for this year. Im defeinetely goin to wait.
Jorge
06-11-2004, 10:59 AM
Nevermind, I called up fixmyangel and they told me that they havent heard about anything like that. I guess I just have to go with the silver angel air, or the black.
Jorge
06-16-2004, 11:29 PM
Hey I heard the angel has Ir capabilities, what is it used for? Can you access its features with a computer or something like that; or is it for sending messages.
thog94
06-16-2004, 11:36 PM
It's to make the MT's lives easier, the can change settings and a few other things. There is software out for the IR3, but nothing made for the A4. You can use it via a palm pilot.
Jorge
06-17-2004, 01:34 AM
Oh I see, so its basically an easier way to change the settings instead of using the buttons.

Yup, that's about it.
Jorge
06-17-2004, 01:45 AM
I was reading the settings thread, and I noticed everybody has different settings to personal preferance and I guess do to a perticular way they want the gun to running. What do these settings mean, I posted them below.
Dwell: 11
TR: 20
LPR: 64
Semi 2
Largest Volumizer
Tank Output: 320
Mini Reg Output: 180~190
thog94
06-17-2004, 01:53 AM
Dwell = how many miliseconds the valve stay open
TR = trigger responce, adds or removes trigger bounce
LPR = low pressure regulator, how much pressure is used to run the gun
Semi 2 = the mode the gun is in
Tank out put is how much air is going from the tank into the mini reg
Mini reg out put is how much air is going into the LPR
All of this can be found in your manual, they can be found online here:

10-4 got it thanks. Now heres another newbie angel question for you. I basically dont know a whole lot about angels and how they perform. Im planning on basically keeping this gun stock for a while until I get some money for upgrades which I strongly doubt it. Well my question is this; Im going to keep this gun stock, will this gun shoot across an average sized rec field?
Oh alot of people told me to buy Jt paintballs if I dont want to spend alot of money on paint, they say its got a good paint to barrel match, if so which type of Jt paint do I use?
thog94
06-17-2004, 02:17 AM
There won't be anything that you will need to upgrade except maybe the trigger and barrel.
Distance won't be a problem.
As far as paint, you just need to find a good match for your barrel, the stock one is .689, I don't shoot JT paint so I don't know.
Jorge
06-17-2004, 02:19 AM
What would be a cheap but quality paint that I can use?
thog94
06-17-2004, 02:22 AM
Check your local store, find out what they have. Each store has different paint and I don't know what's available in your area.
Jorge
06-17-2004, 02:26 AM
Ok, I guess I'll try few types of paint while Im breaking it in; by the way how many rounds would I need to go through until I can start messing around with its settings, I heard you cant fiddle with it until you break it in.
thog94
06-17-2004, 02:27 AM
Try about 2-3 cases before making some adjustments
Jorge
06-17-2004, 02:34 AM
ok, What about the volumizer, do I put a volumizer while Im shooting the 2-3 cases of paint.
Jorge
06-18-2004, 07:25 PM
Im pretty sure you dont right
MadSpeed
06-18-2004, 09:36 PM
you can if you like, some peaople say to do that(leave it off) warped put it on, so, it's up to you!
Jorge
06-19-2004, 11:54 AM
Ok I see, I think I'll leave it off until Ive gotten the break in process done.
thog94
06-19-2004, 12:11 PM
It shouldn't make a difference on or off.
Jorge
06-19-2004, 12:25 PM
Oh ok
Jorge
06-20-2004, 03:42 PM
I got another question. Im going to be playing with some friends at this field that not an actual field but one that were making for speedball. Well heres my question, since Im not going to be able to get my tank filled except the first time, what would be some good settings so I could get the most shots out of my tank and still have it performing good. My tank is going to be a 68/ 4500 angel air system.
thog94
06-20-2004, 03:48 PM
400 input to the gun, then adjust your velocity on the mini reg, it should be around 250 or so on your gauge. You will need to shoot a bit before you can start to tweak your settings.
Jorge
06-20-2004, 04:31 PM
Will that give me the capabillity to shoot a case or around that area.
MadSpeed
06-20-2004, 04:35 PM
I think you missed the point somewhere down the line. The Angel 4 will work as it is straight out of the box, it only needs tinkering when your ready to tinker!
it's an LP gun. so low pressure is what you want, i think Ken said 400psi in is what you want
Jorge
06-20-2004, 04:45 PM
Ok, I get you now. Hey is there any places where you can buy fill stations for nitro, I know you need to know how to properly fill and stuff, but where would they sell something like that.
thog94
06-20-2004, 05:06 PM
You can always get a scuba tank and fill it from that.
Jorge
06-20-2004, 05:13 PM
Oh because Ive seen these compressors at the field that I got to.
thog94
06-20-2004, 05:17 PM
If you are playing at a field, just get your air there, most fields don't let you fill from a scuba that you bring due to liability reasons. If you want to play at home or in the woods, I would suggest getting a scuba tank.
MadSpeed
06-20-2004, 05:22 PM
Either way you go, Air is cheaper then CO2 (dont even think about running CO2 though), and you can get all-day air at most places for 5 bux or under (atleast in Cali).
thog94

CO2??? You NEVER want to run that on your Angel!!!

Have a nice day to you too!
Jorge
06-20-2004, 05:42 PM
Yeah I know your not suppost to run co2 on an angel, I kind of knew that. Where can I get a scuba tank real cheap? You think my field would fill it up for me.
MadSpeed
06-20-2004, 05:44 PM
Ebay, recycler, um, new and cheap I have a no clue
MadSpeed
06-20-2004, 06:07 PM
Ohh from the scuba tank your going to need and adapter... just keep that in mind, its an expensive one too
thog94
06-20-2004, 06:17 PM
You can get a fill station for between 40-60 dollars. All depends on what kind and if it has a gauge on it or not.
Jorge
06-21-2004, 07:17 PM
Well since Im getting angel air, what adapter and what tank will I need, just any scuba tank I guess right.
Jorge
06-26-2004, 02:00 AM
Oh I got a question, my sister might start playing paintball and I wanted to buy her a good reliable gun, something not too expensive and something not so cheap either. I was thinking of getting her an 2002 angel lcd, what do you guys think? Obviously shes a newbie like me, but since I kind of know a bit more about the sport than she does I can teach her little by little.
Jorge
06-26-2004, 02:00 AM
Oh shes 13 by the way, so shes real young, but I think she'll be fine.
Jetwing@Impactpaintball
06-26-2004, 08:10 AM
wow, an angel for a first gun, ur the best brother ever lol. by the way they arent usually refered to as scuba tanks but nitro tanks (though it is usually just compressed breathing air) call up any of the sponsors, i herd impact just got a whole shipment of tanks =)
Jorge
06-26-2004, 10:46 AM
The reason I want one is so I can play in a field were going to make, so I dont have to fill my tank once and worry Im going to run out of air. So you think a used 2002 lcd angel will be alright, obviously I'll be the one maintaining it until she learns.
Jorge
06-26-2004, 10:50 AM
Oh isnt there an angel thats a pink edition, I think its called the chic angel or something like that, I have a picture, here it is.
Jorge
06-26-2004, 10:52 AM
Hey Im a guy and I still would love to have an angel like that lol, my sis liked it.
Emmit
06-26-2004, 11:33 AM
for the money you can't go wrong with a used LCD in most cases.
As for an Angel for a first marker...well no worries there...my daughter has never held anything but Angels;) When she finally starts playing she'll have her own Angel to use.
Jorge
06-26-2004, 11:43 AM
Great, I'll start looking around ebay or here for some used lcd's, is there any pink angels like the one above.
Emmit
06-26-2004, 11:45 AM
don't make me slap you....why would you want to use Ebay when we've got such an extensive Classifieds section here broken into sections based on model of marker...
Jorge
06-26-2004, 11:49 AM
Look at me I totally forgot this is an angel owners forum. :) LOL I'll start looking around, and find some average prices for an angel and angel air.
Jorge
06-27-2004, 05:48 PM
It seems as though Ive gotten my whole family and friends into the sport. Well now my cousin wants to get an angel; after some convincing he doesnt want a shocker anymore. Now my question is this; Im getting an angel air system which he wants but doesnt want to spend on, so I told him that mac dev conquest tanks are real good, is this true or not, what tank do you reccomend after the angel air system that is cheaper and still has the same quality and performence we want to expect from an air system. I recently visited the the mac dev site and its 395.00. Give me all your feed back on this, its for my cousin, which I just signed him up for this forum.

Jorge
07-02-2004, 07:36 PM
ok nevermind hes gettin angel air, I think he'll be fine. Anyways, Im almost close to buying my a4, I already got the money for angel air, I cant wait. My very first angel how exciting. What angel should I get for my dad that is used, I was thinking about an Ir3 or a Lcd, as long as its a 2003 model, nothing older that that. If anyone has any guns for sale please let me know, but It will take me some time before I get the money, maybe about 3 weeks or 2 before this summer ends.
