I don't know if my stock bolt for my Ir3 is Delrin or not so I'm afraid to oil it, is there anyway you can tell ?

My IR3's bolt is delrin, I know this cause delrin and metal scratch differently. My bolt somehow snagged and got scraped a bit, as a result a very thin layer of the delrin was shaved off. Not sure if it is the same bolt you've got but I hope it helps.

I never heard of a metal iR3 bolt. If it's not delrin, then you have some crazy custom material. Stock bolt, R-11, Speed, 4 Soft tip bolt, all are made of delrin.

Then I guess mine is delrin...Only reason I ask is b/c it doesnt look shiny or anything and the front of it is scratched up. And I heard if you oil a delrin bolt you can screw stuff up... :notsure:

You are correct on that. Delrin tends to swell as it absorbs some of the oil. I don't know how much more it "swells" but I hear it is a significant amount. You might also consider that metal bolts usually have one or two o-rings and any scratch on it would probably be "shiny".

don't oil delrin. the way you can tell if your bolt is made of delrin is, does it look like plastic? if yes, then it's delrin. it won't look shinny. more of a dull sanded look. delrin is a self lubricating plastic. sometimes it is black, gray, white, red, or blue. oil will make it swell and if you oil it enough it will get stuck in the breech and that would be bad.

Teflon looks like plastic as well. Just look at the new Omega bolt.

Teflon is actually plastic. And it's self lubricating.

and actually slicker than delrin...but the winner all out is teflon impregnated delrin

Yeah it is plastic and it does look sanded and its black...So I have a delrin bolt then. I oiled my bolt b4 but it hasn't swelled to my knowledge so good thing I stopped. :hititraw:
