If the metal is polished when you annodize it, it comes out glossy.
If the metal is bead blasted before annodizing it, it comes out as a dust finish.
So as for which one is hard, it depends on if the metal has to be polished or bead blasted. The anno process itself is the same for both, and you use the same dye. Its the preparation of the metal iself that is different.

So why is polished more expensive than dust??!?!

polishing is harder and more money than bead blasting.

Accually both annos will scratch just as easy. It is the metal and the anno process, not the finish that it depends on.
If the polish is done correctly, the surface will will be harder to scratch then say a soft polish like a dust.
Its the metal itself that is scratching easier, not the anno.

Polished seems to hold up better when it comes to keeping the finish on the gun looking good though.
Dusted ones have more friction when going in/out of your marker bag or what ever you keep it in.. same when you clean it and so on..
So after a while it will look more "used" then a polished one..

Again this is due to the fact that when the metal is polished it is smooth an uniform. Dust leaves very tiny bumps everywhere leaving it a little more prone to deep scratches.
