All it took was 5 years ago + I shot my friends Stingray while at work at a abondoned building across from my work. I was hooked!!! And thought DAMN I need to do this. Fast froward to today I got too much money and time invested to even think about ever quiting. Im hooked for life and to think it took a plastic Beagle marker. Beagle was my gateway drug then I graduated to WDP the crack of paintball markers. heh heh

First exposure to paintball was buying a Stingray off some kid to shoot at cars with sometime when I was a young teenager.

(yeah I know...)

That didn't last long.. few years later, more people started getting into it so I bought a Spyder (this was '97).

Played for a year in woods ball, sold the thing and I think i bought an ounce of weed or somethin' with the money... DId it's job tho, the fellas I was playing with had Cockers, Minimags and an Angel.

Been wanting to play since but didn't want to buy a b/s marker... i want something 'precision' if that means anything. So, I bought the Angel. Unfortunately I broke my hand recently and haven't been able to play for a few weeks now :\

I had a friend, so i bought a gun so we could play. The first time we went out i spent all of my time working on my stingray in the back seat of the car. once i got it runnin everyone was leaving. The leader i am, i quickly swooped up about ten people to play elsewere later that day. We hit the field and all my paint hit the ground, i didnt care i was playin, picked it up and right back into the case it went. : ) i never got hit, but i didnt hit anything either. It was a blast, only if i could master that no hit thing again. that was in '93

my first time was 3 years ago. good old spyder shutter (was supposed to rent a gun for first time, game got cancelled, my dad asked me if i was really interested in the sport, i said hell yeah, and we bought me a gun without my mom know, well untill i got home). oooo i got an armson stealth for it, ooooo riffled. man did that barrel suck! i played woodsballs for a year and a half, became a ref. at a local field in spring 2002, bought a Kapp cocker off a guy that works there, and i bought my iR3 this past september.

well about 3 years ago...i was watching a game people were playing in the woods behind my house and liked it. so i bought a sting ray (got ripped off on ebay) and played my first game. the kids said it didnt hurt to get hit and it was hot out that day so i wore an A shirt (aka wife beater) and the guys had shockers and mags and lit me up, i was bleeding but i was hooked from then on. I eventually sold that gun for double i bought it for (on ebay)...god i love ebay...anyways i bought a sheridan xts at walmart with the money and played a bit more with that, then returned the sheridan after it broke and got my money back (gotta love wal mart) and made a few extra bucks and bought my cocker off of a friend of mine and played a tourney and some open play with it and with my new team, got off that team after the first tourney, played alot more and about 5 months ago i bought my new bonebrake angel lcd and got on my current team, Team Friction...

Went to play last October at Tombsone with my friends. At lunchtime I was hooked and bought my Spyder Compact. (swore off spending any more money on paintball- you can guess how long that lasted) Went to Pensacola from January to June, playing every weekend in the woods. I bought my iR3 in August, and play with my team every other weekend now.

1990, (12 years?...too old to remember!) We ordered 20 68 cal. paintballs to see what they looked like. (2 other calibers were available). I shot my friend in the rear, using a Wammo slingshot, and it was on!! We ordered Tippmann SL-68 pumps. 14 of us had never played and we bought markers..go figure. Woods play only, we didn't know anything else. My, how times have changed...but not the excitement.

DAMN, this thread made me feel older than I am. ;(

My first time was in 1988. I rented a PGP and the truly amazing gun (not marker) on the field was the guy who had the self-modded 'constant air' tank, while we all had to use 12 grams.

Had an absolute blast. Those without camo were all considered newbies. Those who shot more than three shots in a row were wasting ammo and considered newbies. Charges were timed based on the hissing sound made when an opponent was changing 12 grams.

We had one freaky guy talking to the ref about a 10 round tube he had filled with a paint paste. He had a toothbrush in it. He wanted to know if it would be legal for him to sneak up behind the opposing team and draw his toothbrush across their throats with the paint on it to simulate slitting their throat.

Luckily, the ref said no.

They were good old days... but they weren't necessarily better.

(I know this is on old thread but......)

In San Diego there was a guy who had a chopper business and started a paintball field. He rented some property (I think) in Harbinson Canyon and had van filled with pgps. He would rive out to the field set up a table and let people go play.

So my first experience was driving out to the middle of nowhere seeing a van with a crazy chopper outlaw looking guy with all these pgps on a table. I played rock and cocke for a couple years. This was 1987!

well...3 years ago I bought a Tippmann 98 after playin once. I played 7 times and quit, thinkin "paintball is really stupid". My friend bought a spyder and got me back into paintball about a year ago. I bought an '02 stock cocker. Then i sold it and bought a used Gen-X 2 cocker. I traded it for a bushmaster. I traded the bushy for my first angel, a 2000 Dark LCD. I then bought a new Dark Ir3 which I play with today. I sold my LCD with much regret. Now i have decided "I LOVE ANGELS" and "WS4EVA" (warped sportz forever) Man, how I love paintball.

Oh man am I old, my first gun was a Splat Master. That was one mean paint chopping machine. The barrel and the hammer were the same thing. The twelve grams went in the grip until I got a 12oz tank and set that up on a remote. Then I got a custom pump built for me. It was like $450 and was based on a Nelson 007. I played on a team that used to play against the, then start up, team known as the All Americans. I think we ran into them twice at a place in PA called Wolf's Lair. All of that was in the late 80's. Camo and silencers were standard gear.

Wow is that a different world from the Hyper Ball tourney I justed played in. Then it was 1 ball every 12 seconds and now it's 12 balls every second

i used to work at a hardware store a ouple years ago for a summer job and the guys i worked with did mad crazy woodsball... i was going to get into hunting and actually bought a bow and arrows well i too kthat back and used the cash to but a tippmann... well we played and they got me all into it.. i upgraded the tippman as much as possible it was nuts.. i sold that then to get a 2000 angel LCD and then, i discovered speedball... oh my god. the itch hasn't gone away since.. i did pretty good and learned mad quickly because of the big following in my area and the pro teams around here willing to help poeple out like LOCKOUT and sonic rage (novice team that beat dynasty chicago 2002 see FON DVD) to this day, i haven't watched tv at my house.. i always have a paintbal lvideo going... its an addiction, maybe a sickness but paintball is made for me. its what i am meant to do.

Man does it make me feel old to hear/read about all you guys starting out with semis. We didn't even have semi's, I'm not sure the were even on the drawing boards. What am I talking about, we didn't have masks. We wore shop goggles that fogged like a bathroom mirror. "Hey is that a guy or a tree?"

this makes me realize how horrible my splatmaster was for chopping balls when you couldnt even get a shot out every 2 seconds, when my speed can put out 17 bps while not chopping once. meh. i guess the paint was crap back then.

The paint wasn't that bad I shot Nelson. Those plastic paint blenders were just very very good at chopping paint. I even found a 12" aluminum barrel to put on it. That ad should have read "Seriuosly increase your chopping ability".

We bought a splatmaster just to see how bad the hit hurt....heck, it would knock bark of the pine trees. Do you remember the "rapided" (sp)? It was the semi version of the splatmaster...had a turret style "hopper" holding 20 or so rounds. I find myself longing for the old days....

my first time was 15 years ago
my brother who had been playing paintball for a few months got a new pump marker , im not even sure what kind it was
so i wen tot the local shop to see how much one costs , too see if i could get one for myself
well being 16 at the time i had money , and damn they were exspensive back then (lol like they arent now )
anyways i entered a drawing that they had for a splatmaster and on christmas day they called me and told me that i had won the marker
so that set me off on the road to where i am now ,15 years later and enjoying this sport more than i have any other . now that i can afford what i want .
funny thing though i had that old splatmaster up until got devorced a few year back and my ex wife took it when she moved out , i wonder why she wanted it ?

:dito: The woman that was taken prisoner during the early part of the war is a testomony to "fury"...they didn't get her without one helluva fight first! My now ex used to steal the parts to the markers so I couldn't play. What a good excuse to go out and by the latest model! Padrinot, weren't Splatmasters reffered to as "rock and cock"...? :again: Hmmmm....maybe she was confused by the name...
