Ram shaft problem

I had a small problem taking off the Hammer on the ram.
I gouged the shaft, not real deep but just enough so that
the shaft does not go all the way into ram part with the o-rings. Can anyone out there suggest anything to polish the shaft.
Can i get some 1000 grit sand paper to polish up the shaft?


Or do I need to order a new shaft?

i would say try usuing a small file first then using the high grit sandpaper to sand it then use steel wool and depending on how deep the gouge is you may need to replace it cause if it is too deep it will probably cause excess wear on the other parts and then you would need a whole new assembally

You need a new ram. polishing out the gouge will change the tolerances between the shaft and the ram body and more likely than not cause a leak.
