Well Ive had my ir3 about 3 weeks now and used it for 2. On the first day I could not get the velocity above 250 for some reason and it was spiking really bad, going from like 210 all the way to 260 sometimes. So I read every post on here about snap rings and cleaning out the mini reg. So i made the minireg spotless and reoiled it. I brought it down to the field and it still wasnt any better. I then adjusted the snap ring and it was the same. So I thought that mabye it was my tank. I tried 9 tanks and they were all the same. Any ideas anyone? :rollseyes

Have you checked and cleaned/oiled the Ram?

How bout the LPR?

That was my next step. If it was on my mag, I would say that its a ripped o ring. Im getting my tool kit from the fixmyangel.com next week so thats what im gona to next, any other suggetsions?

oh yeah, I noticed that the ram and the breech are extremly dirt. I cant get to get but I imagine thats part of the problem. They are covered in a very thin oil, buts its black and a over oiled.

inconsistency and low velocity, yea definately sounds like an lpr problem to me,

but yea if your gun if full of dirty oil i would give it a good cleaning too

sounds like lpr needs to be serviced and maybe even replaced LPR if in bad shape.

If you don't know how to do it send it to a Master tech above. Its not to hard to do though.

Set your lpr to 90-100psi. That and cleaning the ram should help you out. Also, see if your lpr has a snappy recharge, if it creeps, that could easily be the cause of your inconsistency problems.

Thanks guys.
What exacly does "sounds like lpr needs to be serviced" mean. What am I supposed to do? I assume clean everything up and reoil, but what else? Im going to a tourney practice thats gona have about 6 or 7 angels so someone is bound to have a tool kit then. If I need to replace it, will this do the job?

I got the gun with 75k shots on it, so it has had a good amount of use too.

that is the LPR correct. If the LPR is bad you can put that in there, and be good to go.

As for servicing the LPR you can remove it and replace and lube all the o-rings, grease the piston etc. that might help you out.

Hmmm ok, what exacly am I looking for? Just some worn out o rings and mabye some wear on the lpr?

i'd say just a low lpr pressure, but you'll need the toolkit before you can check that,

but in the mean while just give it a cleaning and greasing

well my tool kits in the mail, but I read a post on pbn about using a c clip plier to get the ram out. So thats exacly what I did.
Found some interesting things. First of all the ram looks mint(105k shots). There are 2 o rings that are not however. The first o ring on the ram, a black one has 2 small dings in it(its the oring that faces the barrel and it is on the outside of the ram). About 5 sheets of paper wide and about 2 sheets apart. I then looked at the snap ring oring and it had a small rip about 8 sheets wide on the back of the o ring(the side that faces the back of the gun). I dont think that that would effect the velocity that much but you guys know better than me. Ill replace those next week.

Next step: check the lpr o rings and pressure

well it wont hurt to change those but i still think it's your lpr mostly

Said it before and will say it again. Check you valve stem for severe wear. Almost guarantee its your prob. Do a search in this forum with "vavle stem" and you will see all my prior posts and solutions. That maybe your prob.

I called fixmyangel.com today and he said that he didnt think that it was the valve stem. He told me to put a guage on the minireg to test it. I told him that I got the thing spot less and he said to check it anyway. I dont see how Im goning to do that. Theres no were to put the guage on the thing. Any ideas? I still check the valve stem but ill try what fixmyangel suggests.

you unscrew the reg off the mini asa and if looks like any other reg. You put the guage ontop and screw it unto the reg and screw in a tank into asa.

Not quite like that, but here is a nice walkthrough on how to do it: http://www.angel-owners.com/showthread.php?t=24092

dont say that mayday, your making me upset. Ill just use it the way it is before I replace the lpr and the ram. What was your velocity doing? I hope not the same as mine. If all else fales there is an angel tech about 90 minutes away. Just dont wana burn 20 bucks in gas if I dont have too.

got my tool kit a few minutes ago and heres what I found. The lpr looks good. All orings are great, but the exaust valve is not so good. As you can see the shaft has worn all the black finish off the bottom half. The lower half of the plastic part is much smaller than the top half and has some kind of lip on it. There is also a balk ring that wont wipe off it too. Heres the pics, let me know what you think.

I can only get them to work as png so they are huge :pileocrap

The black ring is just from grease/oil. The valve guide is suppose to get worn a bit but in the pics is looks decent but if you say it looks worn I guess it is. The lip is suppose to seal up and close the valve so no air gets out. It sounds it is unbalanced so air is leaking out from the shorten end. If you have a replacement drop it in.

Man the MT got it right on the nose. He did even have to look, touch or even hear it to get the right diagnosis

I've had 3 IR3s and no Im not a MT I just worked on mine and numerous other teamates and other players. Been using them since a month after they came out. Seen it before and the nylon or whatever the actual cup seal is made of wears out and cups/grooves badily and evetually doesnt open far enough to let out the required air to get your velocity up. Take it for what its worth just a suggestion.

The way you describe the lip of the stem on the valve guide, 100%. Buy an repair kit and you have some spare parts for when other stuff breaks down, cost like $20. Better to be prrepared than to be sorry.

Alright guys Ill try the valve stem. I took out the valve guide today and it was perfect aswell. Nothing else shows any were either but the valve stem, so that pretty much has to be it I quess. Ill order the repair kit tomarow and let everyone know incase they ever have the same problem.

well guys you wont believe it. I greased the valve stem a little, just put some on my fingers and rubbed it on it and put it all back together after greasing everything else. It sounded a little differente and low and behold it was. It shoots great now. Its very consistant and goes to what ever fps I want. Had a great day at the field too, didnt get hit once and got about 15 rec players out. Thanks for all the help guys!
