tank help

hey is the n2 filled from the top of the tank like c02? or do they fill it from a little valve from the side? in my dads shop there are people there that deal with tanks of n2 and c02 and what not, they have the connectin that fits on the top of the tank but is that where you put the adaptor or is it on the side of the tank? to clear this all up iam trying to say.. theres a shiny rod sticking sideways out at the top of the tank, what is that for? and is nitrogen filled by that pin being pushed in with the right adapter on the top of the tank? hope u can understand what iam saying lol

the fill connection is a nipple on the side of the reg..they should not be trying to force air backwards through the reg:nono:
