Background:
Bought my son a used Angel speed last week from VR paintball in douglasville, Ga. Came with a car charger no manual. Could not fully test the gun since the store did not have any high pressure tanks. They ordered said tank and we took the marker home. They did guarantee the marker so we figured all would be good.

Downloaded the manual and charged the gun over night as suggested per manual.

Next morning on game day the gun will not power up at all now. No love whatsoever. NO lights, graph nothing. It did light up prior to the charge but sounded very weak even with the new HP tank. We just thought the battery was weak.

After more research I think the source of the issue is: Wrong charger. It is a 9.6v RAPID charger from Kingman http://store.yahoo.com/actionvillage/011-4020-380-2.html

Now. What probably is wrong with the marker? The battery, board or both. Any way to test each without buying each part separately? Does the marker have some internal protection to prevent severe damage?

Thank you for the help.
Dad. :pat:

9.6V... :microwave

The Speed battery's voltage is like 1/2 that.

I would take that to a tech and have it looked at ASAP, I suspect you may have done some damage there.

IM..
I found a lot of posts that state the output voltage on the stock charger is 12v and the board regulates the power to the battery. Not sure if true or not...

Do you have a speed? Does it say what the output voltage is on the charger?
Thanks

I had a speed until like 3 days ago.

The INPUT to the charger is 12.5V DC, and should not exceed 14.5V. As to the output, I cannot remember off the top of my head. However, it makes sense that (since the battery is 4.8V), the input should be 4.8V as well, as the Kingman charger you used is designed to charge a 9.6V Kingman battery (with 12.5V DC input, which is standard in all automobiles) and outputs 9.6V.

Like I said, get to a tech soon.

The stock Speed charger is capable of charging both the 6.3 volt IR3 battery and the 4.8 volt Speed battery (or at least that's how mine reads). If you ran 9.6v in the gun odds are you may have smoked the board.
