MIAMI EFFECT NO LONGER NXL TEAM

FRANCHISE SOLD TO SMART PARTS

'MIAMI EFFECT PLAYERS' NOW PLAYING DIVISON 1 AND 7 MAN PRO

MORE TO FOLLOW.

These rumors were released by a now former Miami Effect player last night on E-Money radio in Southern California. Apparently Miami Effect players were unhappy with contractual agreements with the NXL, unlike the newly formed Detroit Strange (www.strangegear.com) they feel they can make more money playing Division 1 as well as the NPPL.

No word yet as to what the new name of the old Miami Effect will be, if all of the Miami Effect players left, and if the new owner of the team will retain the Miami Effect name/location. According to the E-Money report, the franchise was purchased by Smart Parts.

one more good team to watch in the super7!

i was happy to read this, not a fan of the nxl at all

yea it sounds prety cool that they are going back to nppl and still playin DIV1 xball. it kinda funny that the NXL has been around for one year and they are already haveing probloems keeping the franchise teams. i think that the nxl should change it to where you can play in the nppl and other leauges.but thats just me.

its probably just a rumor... untill it gets on fon or something more 'official'

miami is a very good xball team, and now that they will shoot shockers instead of timmys (those pos guns) they can be even more aggresive. i bet they will take at least 1 div1 event away from dynasty, but not the super 7. just look at what happened in europe last year.

I don't think they will be shooting shockers. They have left the NXL which means there is a open spot. So SP has bought the franchise but I don't think they will keep the name. Effect or what ever they are going to be called will still be sponsored by empire and shoot timmys.

Maybe Strange should of waited before becoming detroit strange. Now they are stuck with Crosman as their owners. I guess it would be nice that the team was from where the name says.

I have never really liked the NXL. finding out what the scores were is difficult and there are no game highlights on DVD.

as much as the NXL was supposed to be geared towards TV so far they've not accomplished it...

aditionally this now makes 2 teams that have left the league. Not a good sign for the NXL either. While admittedly Strange took the spot that was opened and they did add San Diego Legacy, the loss of Miami Effect hurts.

Then again...Effect wanted the money, and the money is in winning events...you can't win an event if you're stuck in a season. It'll be interesting to see Effect playing NPPL. I'm interested to see if they get "Lanche in Tampa....either in the prelimns or on Sunday:wink:

there wont be an open slot, the league was designed for 8 teams, and tehy let legacy in and made it odd, not its perfect again...

they wont be sponsored by empire.... they got bought by smart parts...

Some of you guys are missing the point here.

The current team of Miami Effect left the NXL. Technically the NXL owns the rights to the name (I think) because it was a franchise paid for by National/Empire into the NXL. With them leaving their Franchise dollars left as well, this is where Smart Parts comes in. Smart Parts paid the leage the "Franchise Fee" for the team, and now owns the rights to the team name, but not the players on the team. This means that Smart Parts can field a new team either using this name or using a different name. The players on the team are however gone.

Now, to say that the league was designed for 8, and that it's perfect again is idiocy IMO. Expansion is good for any league. Look at the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL etc...all these pro sports are constantly expanding, and it's good for the sports. Why is it good??? A couple of reasons. First it allows the sport to tap into a new area...example a new NFL team starts up in say Carolina, it instantly has new fans and brings money into the league...10 years later that team is fighting for the Championship, in their 2nd year they were fighting for the right to be in the Super Bowl. More teams means increased competition for the top spot. Second reason is that more teams means more chances for atheletes to play professionally. If the NFL was only 16 or 20 teams vs the current 32 how many atheletes would be unable to continue to play professional football? With a roster of 53 players to a team that's a lot of atheletes. Expansion is good for ANY sport, and if the NXL wants to become something big they're going to have to expand as well.

While I agree with most of Emmit's comments I don't agree that expansion is always a good thing. MLB and the NHL are prime examples. Although the structuring of the CBA also plays a role in this. Expansion does provide more opportunities for players but the best players would have already been selected. Expansion past a certain point just begins to dilute the talent pool of the league. Obviously this doesn't apply to paintball because of it's early stages or growth. It is an obvious problem with both baseball and hockey though.

without going into a huge conversation off topic...this "dilution" you speak of actually makes it more competitive. Look at the NFL...it's now easier for teams to lose one year and win big the next (prime examples are Carolina and New England). MLB is a different story however as they don't have a hard salary cap, a hard cap would do wonders for MLB....but back to paintball here:wink:

more teams means they need more players. i don't know about you guys but if they wanted me to play, i would no matter what league it was.
