?? For Ken Crane, Remove Spring?????

Ken, as per below in your post on A4 recommended set up, does one of the springs actually need to be removed???? I did the mod a while back but did not remove one of the springs, if so which one needs to be removed?? Thanks again, also, my FPS jumps crazily, im using the tank mentioned in my sig.

if you have a high pressure tank you can modify the mini reg to lower the spring stack pressure so you may adjust the gun below 300 fps.

1) remove all pressure to the gun.
2) remove the mini reg from the gun by unscrewing it counter clockwise
3) look into the top of the mini reg and locate the circle 'c clip'
4) with a circlip pliers remove the circlip
5)carefuly turn the mini reg over and tap it on a padded surface
6) you will note that there are cuped washers stacked on top of each other they look like this: ((()))((())) (not in this order)
7)remove 1 of the cuped washers (springs) from the mini reg stack
8) reassemble in reverse order and re chrony

Your going to have to take it in and get it gauged correctly.
But if you need to the best bet would be to remove one of the washers, not the spring stacks.

Uhmm, not to sound stupid, although it does sound stupid, but get what gauged correctly?? :notsure: Remember I dont have the luxury of walking into a pro shop, my azz is still stuck in Okinawa Japan and they have NO paintball shops over here.

DeadlyUSMC I took removed the spring that would set right against the washer that is in the Mini-Reg, and my FPS was crazy. Which one did you remove to get a crazy FPS?

Actually I didnt take any out. I went to a website that was referred by someone in this site for the mod. The mod showed the order in which to take out and put them in to convert to HP. My FPS over the chrono jumps anywhere from +20 to -20 over the chrono, and thats with all washers, springs, whatever you want to call them. Im talking it'll be set at 285 for 3 shots then the next it's down to 260 then after a couple shots it jumps back to 285 then goes to 295 then back to 285???
Then there will be days that I go to play and no matter how much I adjust the velocity, I cant get it to go over 275? Especially when we had the tourny the other weekend, I COULD NOT GET IT OVER 270!! Luckily it did'nt hurt my play, I nailed 75% of the kills for our team. Maybe my dumbazz should just get a LP tank :wall:

Ooo I thought you did the mod as ken suggested and removed one of the springs and your FPS was crazy, but what you did was re-arrange the springs in the mini-reg. Ken from what I can tell does not recommand re-arranging the springs, but just to keep the spring stack as it comes from the factory and only remove one, which is what I did. I would like to hear from somebody else that did the same thing as I did and report on if their FPS jumped wildly.
My setup at the time was:
A4 less then 10,000 cycles
Just put some angel juice though the gun.
Crossfire HP air tank
Longbow barrel system, and matched the ball well, but was cheap, cheap, cheap wal-mart paint.

my way of doing this is to just remove 1 cupped spring .we all have a different way of doing this.also the other way is to lower the lpr to 50 and lower the dwell to 12 or so

A thanks alot Ken. Yeah I had that setting before I up'ed the dwell to 15, LPR to 60, TR of 10 and left the mini reg at factory settings, around 210. I must say this though. After changing it to those settings the gun freakn rips like a madman. But, I will try doing the reg mod how you suggested and see how my FPS runs after that. I will let you know. Thanks again Ken.
