It only happens when I hammer out the paint.
umm I have my gun set at 20BPS but I usually hit around 13-14. I have a y-boarded egg.
any ideas?
thanks

Usually chopping is caused by improper ram adjustment.

or a slow/malfunctioning hopper,
i'd say that's the leading cause, specially on guns with no antichop devices
I don't think it's my hopper. I have brand new batteries in it. And it's almost like the breaks are happening after the bolt hits the ball, when the air is hitting the ball.
Like the air pressure is too high. But I guess I could just get the ram looked at

Or not, since he is only shooting 13bps. I use a revvie on my LCD and it keeps up fine.

like i said, malfunctioning or slow,
so it could be his egg having a problem...

turn down your mrof....even though you hit 13-14, u might get a "bounce" at 20 bps every once in a while, especially if your trig is really short and light. you might as well be safe and turn it down to 15. you can always do snertz's lp mod that'll take off pressure of impact. also adjust your ram as Tes suggested.

Nope, that's not happening. The ROF displays the HIGHEST acheieved rate and if he did hit 20 (even for just two shots) it would display that. Think of the ROF display in relation to hundreths of a second. If it displays 20 that means he fired one shot within .05 second of another. If he is shooting 13 bps it means he fired one shot within .08 second of another. This is the way in which the board records ROF

Putting it that way kind of trivializes guys trying to get an extra bps or 2, eh?
Well I bought a halo and I still have this problem. I have had my LPR checked and it is fine, as well as my RAM.
Someone said something about the "snapring" being too tight?

i dont pretend to know a thing about angels past the basics, but i do know that if it is the snap ring, ther is a really good tutorial on this site somewhere. id find it for ya but im late for school:P

i have a 2k2 lcd with the a4 bolt and a halo and i still chop like that if i shoot over 13- 14 a sec but it only happens when im shooting really shotty paint. What paint you shooting? Try some higher end paint.
I was using really highend paint from Severe. It doesn't matter what paint I have, it still does this at High Rates of Fire. But it never did this until just recently

When's the last time you checked out your detents? If they're malfunctioning, then you could be getting a lot of breaks from there. Or they could just need to be stiffer.
I think I have figured it out. My snap ring was soo loose. It took nothing to move it when I pulled it out. So I tightened it a little bit making it stiffer. So now it's testing time.

To properly adjust you snapring, consult manual, page 28.

yes it probably is the snap ring but if it isnt than maybe its like others said bad paint or your velocity is too high...

also remember to loctite the snapring screw when you adjust it, otherwise it will loosen itself after time
ohh loctite on it? well I guess I will do that then.
Thanks everyone for all the help. I am just testing it out with different paint to see how she performs.
If I still have problems I will post again.
THANKS!

you could turn down your LPR, the bolt bounces off the paint in mine(but thats only with good quality paint, it will chop brittle stuff)i have mine set around 95 - 110
Happens to me a lot too, I have an Egg with z-board, and brand new ball detent, I checked my LPR and its fine, my pressure thru the reg is 700, it chops like crazy at high rates of fire, I got my MROF at 17 cuz I thought it was because it shot too fast, but it still chopped today, any ideas?

i have a suggestion shoot slower, learn to snap shoot, and play smart, not just shoot a ton of paint, bps isnt everything.

bad idea....i think da reason u buy an angel is because it can shoot fast....u dont want to buy a thousand dollar marker and shoot slow...i know what u mean but with a angel u need to shoot a little to much...dats wut they were built for...i have a 2002 cnc lcd and it doesnt chop at all...it only chopped twice and dats because i was using crappy paint

most people know angels for the name not the way the gun performs, rarely is there a good setup that shoots good, doesnt chop and is fast. i have just now found perfection in my machine and it took to angels put together. and i will admit i can rip on it if i want but thats not the point of the game and hell if you can shoot a ton of paint and win good, but if you can go through a game and only shoot a hopper you feel so much better. when your behind the bunker and you line up for a snap and you feel your bunker pounding with all the paint the other team is throwing and you snap shoot a two shot burst and pull into your bunker with in a second. as you prepare to snap again you here player eliminated down the field opposite of your team. that is one of the greatest feelings in the world, that takes talent knowing that the guy you just shot probably dropped a hopper or so on you bunker and you took two shots and got him out.

I hear from people that when you adjust the snapring, you turn it in all the way and then loosen it a quater of a turn and it should be fine...
is it ok to use loctite on the ram? mine seems to be getting loose and I just adjusted it like 2 days ago!

Light strength loctite wont hurt anything.
I must say thank you to Vantage_Tes, you've been a huge help!
