Aha! I guess I was not the only one taking advantage of the beautiful mud. Mine is a little more sad, I kinda sank the quad into a huge puddle and washes off the days work. Oh well I guess I will just have to do it again tomorrow

see...it's starting to look like it might rain tonight, and I know it's supposed to rain tomorrow...so maybe I'll have to go do it again tomorrow:smiley: of course I've got a lot more ground clearance than you, so I could do a lot more

Awesome!! nice truck Emmit. I get to drive mine in a little different of conditions. I have gotten it pretty muddy before but it gets most of it's abuse in these conditions. Last one is one of the warmer days outside working I had in January!

thanks..

believe it or not that's still a 98...

I did go with bigger and better tires tho...stock tires were Wranglers, and they were only 31x10.50x15 I went with BFG MT's at 32x11.50x15 so I went up and out an inch...and the tread is so much more agressive! I love them.

Mine's a 2003 got it a little while after I was done school. I was wondering about the tires. I got the bigger ones put on mine from the dealership but the one picture of yours does make those look a lot bigger and the tread is way more agressive. Do you ever have rubbing it looks pretty tight in your rear wells, it may just be the inches of mud though.

Emmit
04-10-2004, 07:34 PM
actually the other thing I had to do was I had to run the torsion bars on the front end up to make room for the tires

the rear never has any problems, the front has a little rubbing in tight turns, hence the reason my goal is to eventually do a body and suspension lift so I can get 35's in there. Of course the biggest problem with that is that you need new rims too...so when I do that I'm gonna switch to a locking hub at the same time, and upgrade the shocks etc. It'll cost a pretty little penny

Reverserewind
04-10-2004, 07:48 PM
Nice that sounds like an awesome plan for it! 35's will be huge! Will you have to upgrade any other parts to accomodate the lift? Do you get a lot of opportunity to take the truck mudding? I haven't been able to find many places around here to do so. Basically I only get to drive it all over the ski hill in the summer and the winter. It's still a good time.

I'm trying to pay off the student loans so not too much else will be going into the truck right now. I love it though. I had a Jetta before so much more useful now!

I haven't really taken in out in such a long time...most of the mud comes from the field I practice at flooding anytime it rains:lol:

this was pretty good fun actually, and could've been a lot more if I had a couple of other people with me to play with and if I had more money to not worry so much about breaking anything...

as for the lift...well when I do it it's going to end being an add a leaf for the back since that's about the only way to do the back really...I figure that for everything I wanna do all at once it'll be at least a good 5k.

Reverserewind
04-10-2004, 08:12 PM
5k eh! You'll have to trade in one of the Angels eh

That sounds like it will be one sweet ride when it's done!

You or a friend have a winch? I'm really not sure what the limits of the truck are and no other friends have any so I'm always worried about getting stuck off roading in the winter.

Emmit
04-10-2004, 08:22 PM
I don't have a winch, but I want one

I used to have a Warn Trans4mer grille gaurd on it until I rearended some old lady and had to remove it. I do have a tow rope tho, it's got a 17 ton breaking point. I got it when I was working offshore seismic, so I know it's good rope. It'll pull anything out if you've got something strong enough to pull it.

Reverserewind
04-10-2004, 08:32 PM
Ya I've got a tow rope in the back now too didn't in the beginning and had to weave 4 tie downs together to pull a buddy out of a huge snow drift. It's unreal how many people ditch their cars in the snow the tow rope got a tone of use this winter! I really have to find more mud this summer!

I'm planning on keeping my stock grill I haven't found a dark aftermarket one that I like yet.

Emmit

nothing again Jeep Wranglers, but the Wrangler brand of tires absolutely suck! They're not nearly as aggressive as they really could be.

Emmit im from colorado and they lift everything here and i know you can get a full suspension lift for that if you look around. Look at Superlift, Fabtech, Rancho, etc.

Emmit
04-11-2004, 09:39 PM
oh I'm sure I could today...but a couple of years ago when I had the kind of cash flow I needed, there wasn't anything bigger than a 3 inch lift...and that won't give me enough room for everything I want to do without lifting the body.

sandhackr
04-11-2004, 10:03 PM
i am pretty sure they make a 6 inch now and it fits 35's. It looks really good when its all done.

I cant show pics because I dont have a digital camera or scanner, but i'll show you a VERY similar award winning one done buy the guys who did my jeep, except its a 2002
