Hi guys.
I should be getting a new Fly soon. So I was wondering if there was anything you guys think I should know even before I pull it out of the box? I've been reading that before you adjust the LPR and put on your volumizer etc, that you should break the gun in first. About how long is a normal break in period? Can someone give me a heads up on the maintenance schedule? I forgot again. How often should it be charged?

Oh yeah, what's the recomended grease for the internals? Back when I had an old LCD someone recomended White Lithium Grease from the hardware store. Will this do? Gold Cup oil okay for the exhaust port?

Thanks!

Read the manual, then read it again. Also read the review on the A4 that Emmit did I'm sure that it will pretty much all apply (except the obvious SENSI) to the Fly. Also don't mess with it too much just play with it a few times before you start to change your settings. Oh and have fun cause you're getting one sick gun!

Man I just read that thread about not getting over 11bps. I hope I don't get a bad board like that.

2-5 cases (4,000 to 10,000 shots on your cycles counter) is a good break-in period.

In order of descending preference: Angel Love Grease, Dow 33, and generic white lithium all work fine. Under no circumstances should you use anything else; side effects range from eating o-rings to pitting stainless steel. That said, you won't be needing grease for quite some time, generally.

Thanks Jouster!
So the 4,000 to 10,000 shots, should all be with air and paint? Or can it come from playing with the trigger without air?

Also, I looked at a White Lithium Grease I had on the shelf and it contained some petroleum. Is this still okay? Is Gold Cup oil okay for the oiling?

petroleum = very bad

The initial shots on the marker vary. On my Fly there was a good deal of grease on the internals, thus you could probably get away with about 10,000 cycles before you even think about touching the marker.

The other factor to keep in mind is that if you play in a place where there is a lot of sand or dust in the air you might want to regrease the marker earlier than 10,000.

here's where you should think about it a little...

if you're supposed to be breaking in a marker by using it, how does sitting in your living room just pulling the trigger with no air or paint how does this make the parts on the marker move and work their way in???

Just curious...when i got my new fly, I didnt break it in before I changed the settings and added the large volumizer. Is there gonna be a problem with me doing this. I put my gun settings to:
mini reg 200psi
lpr 50-55psi
dwell 12
tank output 450psi
trigger offsett 12 or 15
hopper setting super fast
large volumizer

I broke mine in with the volumizer, I'm sure most people did the same. Those settings sound good to me. The key with breaking the marker in is that you'll be able to lower the LPR and tweak the LPR/dwell combo.

Outcast, "breaking in" the marker, as many of us have learned from having a 4, allowed the valves and seals to "seat" properly. I had this problem with my 4, but did not seem to have a problem with my Fly.

The day I picked up my Fly, I ran about 1500 shots through it at the chrono station. After that, I charged it, adjusted the trigger, dwell and TR, and played in a tourney (today)....and it ripped!

I probably won't put any oil or grease in it for at least another two times playing with it. It came pretty lubed up out of the box.

Thanks for the tips Kevine!
So you charged it after the initial shooting? How did you do in your tourny?

If you're in a pinch... this is what I did with a test rig:

Buy an all day air pass, set the marker to demo mode, strap on a silencer. I was getting about 1100 shots off a 4500psi fill using demo mode. I ran three full fills through it. Broke in the marker in about 25 minutes! :)

So should I resest to factory setting and break it in after I have changed the setting and played with it twice .
